A Day at the Lichtenauer Fighting Academy **UPDATED**
Event date: September 18th, 2004
Event Last Modified: September 11th, 2004
The morning will be spent reviewing the materials, and after lunch there will be hands-on practice of the techniques using wooden "waster" long-swords, and pollaxes. Students will receive hand-outs with explanations and pictures of each of the techniques and a list of useful website links. There will also be CD’s for sale containing pertinent information from fechtbücher, plus relevant chapters from Hugh Knight’s book, "Harnischfechten: The Art of Armored Combat"
In the evening, students will gather at "die Taverne", where there will be board, card, and dice games, a hearty German repast provided by our cooks, Dietrich Schwelgengrubber and Heidrekr Skulason, and a cash bar for those who desire ein Glas Bier with their meal. The lunch menu will feature Heathen cakes, Chicken Dumplings, Bratwurst, Mustard Eggs, a selection of Cheeses, Grapes, and Bread. Dinner will include Almond Confits, Mountain Spinach, Almond Garlic Sauce, Pork Roast in Rye Crust, Fried Mushrooms, Beef Roast in wine sauce, Beets preserved with horseradish, and Almond-Cinnamon Tart.
Adult fees will be $11 for the day, plus $5 for dinner (The Non-member surcharge of $3 applies.) Please make checks payable to: "SCA, Inc. - Canton of Marwick", and send to Marla Lecin, 362 Cherry Avenue, Bound Brook, NJ, 08805.
Get your reservation in soon! There is a limit of 50 students and observers. As incentive, all those who send in paid reservations by September 15th will have their names entered into a drawing for a copy of Christian Tobler’s newest book, "Fighting with the German Longsword."
