Event details
Witchingtonville After Dark, this year, draws inspiration from the Dark Ages, transforming the village into a medieval world of flickering torchlight, mysterious figures, and haunting folklore. We’ve been invited to be a key contributor to the ambiance of this Halloween season event run by the events planning committee for the Town of Blooming Grove and Village of Washingtonville, in Orange County, NY. We would love to invite everyone in the surrounding regions and beyond to come help us out! This is an amazing demo opportunity and we're grateful to have been looped in on such an outstanding event.
Witchingtonville After Dark is recognized as Chronogram's 2024-5 First Place annual event. It is expected to draw 5000-8000 attendees this year, so this is a Big Deal and we could really use everyone's help with this one.
It is set to run Saturday, October 24th from 5pm until 10pm outdoors under lights. Rain date is the following Saturday, October 31st. Staff needs to have parked on site by 2pm and, once parked, needs to stay until 10pm breakdown due to the massive influx of attendees. (Due to limited parking spots, if you can carpool please do.)
We'll have a basketball court worth of space to set up in for the fighting/fencing and, if we can find folks, a dancing demo. Half of that can be roped off for the actual demo and the other half can be public-interaction space which can also include tables and pop-ups for A&S displays. We have the full baseball field for archery and thrown interactive demos.
Now that Pennsic is behind us we need to make a big push to get commitments from people to volunteer to run and participate in the different zones of activity. Again, we need marshals and participants for heavy and fencing, marshals for archery and thrown, and I'd really like to include a public-interactive dancing component and if possible some A&S displays.
Please reach out to Baroness Aislinn Chiabach or Baron Bróccín MacIvyr if you're able to volunteer. The more volunteers we can be sure of having on hand, the better we can run this!
