Event details
Enter your "TARDIS" and check your gauges,
As the Barony endeavors to span the ages.
From the prehistoric era to the height of the guillotine,
And many events, that fall in between.
This day's Rattan Championship, Sir Gilchrist will test
To see which fighter will best the rest.
A tournament where only one will survive
Themed "History of the World, Part 1.5"
There will be no feast but do not dismay
As waistlines will egregiously expand through the day.
Our Roman day board will be a progressive escalation,
From simple fare to a culinary sensation.
Maestro Vettorio will recreate dishes, from the 4th and 5th century.
While Anastasia's operatic theme, is from a late 1500 revelry.
So prepare your armor, pack your mug and plate,
Join us in An Dubhaigeainn and don't be late.
You might miss moments to be written in our history book's pages,
As our very own Saint Andrews goes Roman through the ages!
St Andrew's Goes Roman through the Ages will feature our Baronial Rattan Championship:
The Barony of An Dubhaigeainn presents, The History of the World ... of St Andrews, Part I. Our tournament will be a series of round robins that are inspired by the vignettes from the Historical Documents of the great Lord Brooks. Don't know your left flank from your right flank? Not necessary. Looking for a pack of Trojans? You may find one. Come listen to our stupid accents and find out if it’s good to be the King, I mean, Champion! After the round robins there will be semi-finals and then a final. All fighters are encouraged to enter but only a member of the Barony may be named baronial champion. Please bring your whole arsenal of weapons, and gauntlets if you have them.
St Andrew's Goes Roman through the Ages will also feature an extensive, progressive day board of fine Roman and Italian fares:
Bagels/pastry with butter and cream cheese
Coffee, tea
Ancient Roman recipes from Apicius
Honey Pork
Parthian Chicken
Savory pear tarts
Bread and rolls with butter and dipping oils
Stuffed dates
The Opera of Bartolomeo Scappi - 1580's Rome
Rose Roast Beef
Roast Turkey
Side dishes - starch and veg
