A Grand 14th Century Tourney (and Potluck!)
Hosted by Barony of Buckland Cross - Langhorne, PA
Event date: June 6th, 2026
Event Last Modified: May 16th, 2026
Event details
All good persons of coat armor; all knights, squires, and men at arms, who would prove their worth, who would seek renown, who would please a gallery of onlookers, who would champion their lover in a great deed of arms, who have taken up a quest to meet in combat with worthy foes, who have some vow they must dispatch: pray heed and attend.
His most Mighty and Noble Excellency Muireadhach à Cuileannáin, Baron of Buckland Cross, has sworn to perform a great feat of nobility and prowess. He, along with several other noble warriors of the Southern region, have made a vow to hold the field in that same barony on the sixth day of June, against any who would meet them.
All who would witness the clash of arms and who would mark great moments of prowess, should gather there for a pleasant diversion of glory and violence.
Any who would stand as venans must present themselves, armed cap a pied, but with helmet in hand, to the marshals, the heralds, the King at Arms, and the ministers of the lists, which shall be built on the common for this occasion, at 11 of the clock on the day appointed. Bear on your body a surcotte of your arms, and display any banner or pennon to which your rank entitles you. Then issue your challenge to the tenans, that they may give you your desire.
Any who would witness these hectors and hercules in their feats of arms, who would cheer their bravery, or who has a champion who shall bear some token of thine in the lists, should gather at that same place and time.
For glory, honor, and chivalry! Long reign the Crown!

Registration Fees
Registration:
Fees:
$20 for adult members, $30 for adult nonmembers, $10 for children 13 to 17, children 12 and under, free.
Feast:
In lieu of a feast or dayboard, the Barony is having a potluck, with a bonus 14th century recipe contest! There will be a prize, sponsored by Maestra Adelisa Salernitana. (While we are encouraging people to make and bring food derived from 14th century recipes, it is not a requirement. There will be two separate tables and signup lists, one for the contest, the other for modern food.)
Rules of the 14th Century Recipe Contest:
The recipe should be documentable. Provide a short writeup (no more than an index card) with the name of the dish and where it originates from—just your name, the name of the dish, country of origin and name of the cookbook (Example: Adelisa Salernitana, Rabbit Egurdouce, England, Form of Curye). Attractive plating encouraged, but use what you have, as your resources will allow. PLEASE PROVIDE A CARD LISTING ALL INGREDIENTS USED IN YOUR DISH, for the sake of those with food allergies.
(To allow as many people as possible to try what you have made, it is suggested you have your dish served in small, ready-made portions. There is no power at the site, so what you make should be able be served at outdoor temperatures. Bring a cooler and put out portions in stages.)
The winner will be chosen through a populace vote, with the Baron and Baroness weighing in. A token will be provided to each attendee, and a cup will be by each entry. Tokens will be counted and a winner chosen.
