Event details
Welcome to the next reprise of our very well loved Stonemarche Garb Schola! The event is held in the beautiful Lakes Region in the heart of the Barony of Stonemarche. Many folk were sad to be missing a Garb Schola in 2025, we all had such fun and learned a whole lot the last 2 times, so here we are again, at popular request, for round III.
As garb is such an integral part of how we play and represent our chosen time period, our persona and our personality, we know now that it deserves its very own schola. Not everyone feels ready to tackle the Iron Seamstress challenge but everyone, to different extents, wants to look good and feel comfortable in their garb, be it for a stroll down the aisles at Birka, a steamy summer day at GNEW or around a chilly Bardic around a fire at Harper's. And so, we are collecting some of those in the Kingdom for whom sewing is a passion and teaching is a joy to share their knowledge and get us on the track to sartorial respelendence (looking real good in garb)! FYI, the term resplendent comes from the Latin resplendentem: "brilliant", the present participle of resplendere, "to glitter or shine". Synonyms include glory, radiant beauty. Sound like a goal?
As always, we will strive to have something for everyone, no matter where you are on your journey from beginner onward. We have tracks for beginner sewists from basic T-tunic construction to how to pick and know your fabrics, for intermediate and expert sewists around more specifics of patterning, construction, sewing, finishing, by machine and or by hand, your period appropriate garb. We have had a request for a footwear track this year, so if you have experience or a pattern you've used that you think you could help folks get going on, Please let us know. If you have a class you are dying to teach, or classes you are wishing to take, please let us know at the contacts below so that we can work on bringing you on this year and/or next years as we build.
One of the most fun highlights of last years Garb Schola as the "Fashion Show and Tell" over lunch, where teachers and attendees are encouraged to display and explain a bit about their garb. (Reprises from the Birka Fashion Show welcome!) The order is arranged from very early to very late period, and from all over the known world. We also plan to have a consultation table where some of our teachers will volunteer to sit and answer questions if you have a garb idea with which you are not sure where to start or garb in process where you've reached a sticky point and need some coaching.
We will have expanded spaces to work with this year, and hope that our numbers will be even better than they already have been, so bring your friends! Bring a newcomer or curious stranger! There will be Gold Key for folks who have yet to build their first garb so it is a great beginning event for newcomers who wonder how this whole "dress up like it is 1467" works!
This is a respectfully *wet* site. Please plan accordingly.
There will be a light dayboard made for us by the fabulous Iride Corsellini of Stonemarche (menu pending), and attendees are asked to bring something day-board-ish to fill that out as we share in a partial pot-luck. Foods can be period-ish, or modern, no shade either way.
There is also a nice sandwich shop right down the road if you would rather purchase a lunch off site. Their website with menu is linked here:

We are hoping to have a few garb-related vendors on site this year, with materials that you might need to build and bling some fabulous garb, so have some funds with you if you would like to purchase their wares.
