River War with EK Equestrian Championship
Hosted by Barony of Iron Bog - Mullica Hill , NJ
Event date: September 18th, 2026 - September 20th, 2026
Event Last Modified: September 18th, 2026
Event details
Included in the day's martial activities, there will be a Memorial Rapier Tournament for our long-time Boggie, Don Jon of the Endless Quest. He was tragically taken from us last year, and is greatly missed by all.
Mistress Wentylana Bengrek will be running Youth Rapier Activities.
Baroness Rosey Posy will be running Youth A&S Activities including making whistles, kumihumo, and origami (in the Artisans' Village)
We will have an Artisans Village with a variety of Artisans gathering, teaching, demonstrating, and sharing their knowledge, expertise, and passion: Cailleach Dhé ingen Chiaráin: Hot Glass Bead Shop. Margarette La Gantiere: Mongolian Embroidery, specifically the "Double Stitch" developed during the Mongolian Empire.
Cellach na Graifne: Calligraphy and Illumination.
Sabine di Sandra: Southern Region Map.
Vivian de Dunbar: Fiber and Spinning.
Drueta de la Rosa: 2 Beaded Flower classes (Rose and Primrose) and a Making a Byzantine Necklace class.
Maria Charries: class on "Stand out with a Signature Style".
Lissa Underhill and Svafnir Thorvaldson: Pottery workshop "Cups for the Kingdom": Want to learn a new skill while giving back to the kingdom?
Two instructors will be present to guide you through the process of making a cup to be given to the kingdom as largess. We'll use hand building techniques (coil and slab) and earthenware clay to build the cups. Cups can be of modern design, but pictures of historic Anglo Saxon and Viking pottery will be provided for inspiration. Creators will also learn how to decorate their cup with stamps. After the event, the cups will be fired, glazed, in a color of the creators choosing where possible, and then donated to the kingdom as largesse. All experience levels are welcome!
We'll move from the A&S Village Pavilion to near the stage/court pavilion at 3:00pm for an Arts and Science Meet & Greet hosted by Scholastica Capellaria and Engracia de Madrigal. Have you ever wondered who is an expert on a particular art form in the East? Come to the Meet and Greet to meet new artisans, socialize with old friends, get to know members of the A&S Community! All are welcome.
Iron Bog A&S Championship:
Iron Bog will have its competition for Baronial A&S Championship in the morning immediately following morning royal court (so that participants are still free to participate in everything else). The theme for the competition is your exact favorite thing--literally! Show us your work in progress, your favorite finished piece, your favorite source for documentation or inspiration, and geek out about it. Come share what brings you joy and passion. Everyone is eligible to present, but the Baron and Baroness reserve the right to limit championship selection to Iron Bog residents, neighbors, or those who have demonstrated a repeated presence in the barony.
Dayboard provided by Baroness Genevra d'Angouleme. The recipes are from Le Ménagier de Paris (late 14th century French cookbook):
