Event details

Please join us for Buckland's Bounty:  a cornucopia of champions show off their talents, skills and deeds.  We will be choosing our new Baronial Champions for Bardic Arts, Rapier Arts and Rattan Arts.  This year also includes the competition for our very first Arts & Sciences Champion!

Champions' Tournament Details:
Rapier:  Collin Monro of Tadcaster
Master Collin Monro proposes unto our populace a simple round robin with the top two finishers meeting in a best of 5.  This may be amended on the day of, depending on how many competitors we receive.

Rattan:  Berkhommer von Nuremberg
This is a shieldless tournament in all but the first round.

All fighters will be given a number by the Master of the List.  Everyone lines up in Order of Precedence with their best weapons form.  The lower level OP challenges the higher level OP.  Loser reports points to MOL (1 for loss, 2 for win, 1.5 for a tie).  The loser will get in line to be paired with an available fighter.  Fighters have to agree on matched weapons forms (all forms except shield.  Buckler is allowed).

Anyone can fight in the tournament.  Please tell the MOL if you will be competing for the position of Baronial Champion.

Bardic:  Adelisa Salernitana
Our current Bardic Champion, THLady Adelisa sets for the theme of “fall”, or in honor of Buckland Cross, stags or deer—these themes are not required but will definitely get you extra points.
The first round should be your favorite period, SCA-centric, or original songs and tales in a medieval fashion
For the second round, do something different—if you played an instrument in the first round, sing or tell a tale or a poem in the second.

Arts & Sciences:  Cailleach Dhe ingen Chiarain
As we choose our first Arts & Sciences Champion, the Barony’s current Minister of Arts and Sciences, THLady Cailleach, wishes to see you began, and how far you have come.  Please bring the project that shows your growth throughout time.  It can be anything from one artistic piece created over time, or a collection of many.  Extra points if you can relate your project to “new beginnings” to honor the premier Baronial champion title, or “Autumn” to align with this year’s theme.
We will be using the Basic">https://drive.google.com/file/d/1N6-v55-fxwlDcFyL5R2BaXTz7oqDDSSw/view?usp=drive_link">Basic A&S Scoring Sheet to guide our judging.

The three main categories we will be looking at are:
-Challenge and Execution
-Materials and Methods
-Historical Context and Sources

Documentation: We would ask all artisans to engage in at least one form of explanation of their process, sources, and inspiration - written or verbal.  While not officially required, we will give extra acclaim to artisans who provide a brief write-up (1-2 pages) of their work.  Please be sure to tell us what inspired you to create this piece of work!

Note: Due to site restrictions, our Archery Championship will be held at Ghosts, Ghouls and Goblins on Saturday, October 11th.
