We have the day set aside for Scribes of all proficiencies to gather with us to work collaboratively on the gifts of artistry celebrating the accomplishments of our fellow tygers. This is meant as a low key event, so low key you don't need garb! Don't worry about paint and ink on your good garb, this event is GARB OPTIONAL.
9am Gate Open
10am Calligraphy 101 - Getting started with basics and fundamentals - Aesa Feilinn Jossursdottir - For absolute beginners or people who have tried calligraphy and don't know where to go from there. If able: please bring a pencil, eraser, ruler.
11am Designing for the Recipient. - Aaradyn Ghyoot - "That looks like it fell out of a manuscript!" If you have ever wanted to hear that praise, this is the class for you. Learn how to create a scroll that matches both the recipient and the art from their period.
12pm Building Scrolls without a Book of Hours. - Aaradyn Ghyoot - Books of hours are fantastic, but not the only source out there! Learn to create period scrolls from sources you may have never considered are an actual source!
1-2pm Pot luck - lunch break
2pm Save Your Scroll! Fixing Calligraphy/Ink Mistakes. - Leonete D'Angely - $#@% that H was supposed to be an A! Learn how to fix calligraphy and pen/ink mistakes, and spend time practicing. We will briefly go over examples of creative historical "edits", but will focus on the tools and techniques for scraping and repairing letters and pen and ink drawings. Limited scribal repair kits available to keep after class for $10.
3pm Introduction to Shodo - Morwenna O Hurlihie - Interested in Japanese calligraphy? This class will introduce the History, Materials and Basics . Class limit 8.

If you would like to participate in the creation of a backlog scroll, the Backlog Deputy will be there, so you can get an assignment on the day.
Come support the Scribes and socialize! We have plenty of space to relax and enjoy each other's company. We'll have music and children's activities.
Low Company will be playing period games in the afternoon, please join in!
Do you have scribal supplies you no longer need? We will have a sharing table where you can bring those supplies to share with the wider community. Any supplies left at the end of the day will be put together into scribal kits for later distribution.

We're having a potluck! Please bring serving trays and serving utensils. Please include ingredient lists for folks with sensitivities, allergies, and other dietary restrictions. We will be providing a coffee station, hot water for tea, and plain water with various options to flavor it (e.g. sekanjabin, lemon syrup, etc.).
