Falling Leaves and Carolingia Baronial Thrown Championship 2024

We hope you can join us for Falling Leaves and Carolingia Baronial Thrown Championship 2024!  Come hang out with friends and try or watch some of the activities the SCA has to offer.  There will be Equestrian + JOUST!, Rattan Prize Tourney, Rapier Prize Tourney, Thrown Weapons Baronial Champs Tourney, Archery, Dance, Music, Merchants, Forester's Guild, and Youth Activities.  (More details to come)

• The Barony of Carolingia hosts a day of good company and good competition to choose the new Thrown Weapons champions of Their Excellencies Fiore and Frithoric!

• THIS IS A DRY SITE, NO ALCOHOL IS TO BE CONSUMED ON THE SITE GROUNDS

• This will be a picnic day -- NO dayboard or feast -- so please plan to bring your own food (There will be a hydration station with water and lemonade)

•Site is pet friendly, please consider keeping pets away from the Equestrian rings since horses can be spooked easily.

•TOURNAMENTS AND COMPETITIONS:

•Thrown Weapons Tourney:

11:00 am -12:30 pm round robin tourney with top four feeding into double-elim finals.  Bring your best!
Break for lunch and jousting
2:30 pm - 4:00 pm woods melee* / other shenanigans

•Heavy List Prize Tourney:
Starting at 11am, the armored tournament format will be round robin pools (not exceeding eight fighters) into a double elimination bracket.  Winner gets to claim the prize at the end.  Bring your best or multiple forms.  Winner will bring home Carolingian esteem and a hand crafted treasure for winning the day.
After the tournament there will be more combat featuring the Wheel of Death.  Starting at 2:30pm "The Wheel of Death" features many paired weapons forms, so be prepared to test your mettle with dagger to spear and all chivalric forms between.  Take a spin and choose your fate.  Onlookers are encouraged to spin the wheel to test our great Carolingian fighters and guests.

•Archery:
We will have loaner equipment and teaching.  There will be a novelty shoot and a "string shoot".  The string shoot is at 20 yards, and will be to wrap a string around your 6 arrows, Every time you make the string smaller you can celebrate.
Everyone can be a winner!
The range will be open 10am - lunch - 4pm

•Equestrian:
If you wish to bring your horse(s) to this event, please contact the Equestrian Marshal-in-Charge, Duchess Katherine Stanhope 27109@members.eastkingdom.org PRIOR to the event. 

Per the site, current negative Coggins and inter-state health certificate are required.  Currently the site is asking these to be made available 2 weeks prior to the event.  These should be submitted to the Equestrian Marshal-in-Charge in advance via email. 

Site is pet friendly, please consider keeping pets away from the Equestrian rings since horses can be spooked easy.

There will be a fundraiser photo shoot with the champion horse of the day, right after the joust.

•OTHER ACTIVITIES:

Youth Activities:
As the nights get colder in Carolingia, a beast has been sighted roaming our lands!  Our Baron and Baroness fear it may lurk around Their tournament day at Falling Leaves, drawn by the colors and festivities!  They call their fiercest young hunters to come track down the beast and bring it to heel before the day has ended!
Youth activities will be available throughout the day, with coloring, bead stringing and other crafts; scavenger/egg hunts, and a beast chase to round it all out.
Egg Hunt at 10:30am, Beast Hunt at 3:30pm.

Dance:
Much like leaves on the breeze, so too does Carolingia dance and twirl!  Come and learn a variety of historical dances!  No prior experience is necessary- each step and dance will be taught.  Live music provided by the Waytes of Carolingia, our instrumental music ensemble.

Bring your instrument and join us!  We'll play for dancing and just for fun.
