Event details

Join the Canton of Hawke’s Reache for our annual event, “Potted” Arms and Fancy “Faire”!  Spring has flowered into summer and Prefect Titus and Baroness Sorcha travel the lands of An Dubhaigeainn to collect their tithes on the way to the Pennsic War.  The Canton of Hawkes Reache welcomes them with a Summer Faire complete with a tournament to select the new Baronial Fencing Champion.  There will be a hearty day board served throughout the day.  No feast will be served but fear not, for none shall leave hungry!  We will have a repeat of the always lively "Hat Auction", where the populace can bid for a fencer represented by their hat, with the proceeds benefiting the Canton of Hawkes Reache.  If that rapier fighter wins the Hat Tournament, the bidder wins a prize!  The Baronial Fencing Tournament will help Their Excellencies decide on the next Baronial Rapier Champion based on demonstration of skill, courtesy, and pageantry.  The format will be chosen by the current Baronial Fencing Champion, Demetrio Antelini da Lucca.  All may enter; only a Duck may serve as Champion.  Each entrant to the Baronial Tournament must have their introduction to the list prepared for a herald to read, and entrants are strongly encouraged to bring their own "over the top" Herald (like in “A Knight's Tale”).  There will be a prize and recognition for best Heraldic entrance performance!  So bring your chairs and blankets to take respite upon the lawns and watch the fencing and silly games.  Merchants are most welcome to help us get in fine shopping form for Pennsic!  Please contact the Event Steward to register to merchant.  Additional activities will be announced as they are confirmed.

Barony of An Dubhaigeainn Rapier Championship Tournament – Let’s Make a Deal Most Fowl!
I, Demetrio Antelini da Lucca, An Dubhaigeainn’s current Champion of Defence, send greetings and invite you all to attend Potted Arms on June 17th.  I will be hosting a tournament on behalf of their Excellencies, who will observe the combatants and select from the populace their next Champion.  The tournament will be themed around the title, “Let’s Make a Deal Most Fowl.”
The tournament will begin with a Round Robin with a twist.  This stage will score in 2 ways.  The first will be the standard scoring for a Round Robin format.  However, at the conclusion of each bout, the combatants will get to choose from a selection of blind prizes, with the winner of each bout selecting first.  This gives the winners the best chance at that particular bout's most lucrative prize offering.
At the conclusion of the Round Robin, scores will be tabulated and the results will seed a 2nd tournament.  This second tournament will follow a standard double-elimination bracket format.  The exact structure will be determined once we know how many fencers are entering the tournament.  The finals will be a best of 5 with matched weapon forms.  The combatant with the better standing up until the finals will select the first weapon form, and the lower will select second, continuing to alternate choice until a winner is determined.  A combatant may not select the same form twice, but a form may be chosen that has already been selected by their opponent.
