Schola at the University: Wolfie Welcomes the Ducks

Event details

Spring Schola will be held at Stony Brook University, where we Ducks are being welcomed by the members of the Science Fiction Forum. 

Spring is here and the time has come to learn and grow!  Come to the Barony of An Dubhaigeainn for our Spring Schola. 

Classes will be held throughout the day with a display table showcasing the skills of our populace for our Baronial Arts and Sciences championship, leading to a performance by those who wish to compete for Baronial Bardic champion.

A&S Competition - Theme and Rules:  The current champion, Lady Fiona the Volatile, has set the theme and rules for the A&S competition. 

Bardic Competition - Theme and Rules:  The current champion, Lady Aoife inghean Ui Briain, has set the theme and rules for the Bardic competition.

Site rules:
The event will be held at the Student Activities Center (SAC) at Stony Brook University, in room 169. 
The site is DRY. 
No live steel allowed on campus. 
No smoking or vaping allowed on campus. 
No feast or dayboard will be provided but there are other restaurants around the campus, and we will have information at the event about off-site restaurants nearby.  ETA:  The SAC cafeteria is closed on weekends.

BY CAR
From New York City, take the Long Island Expressway (LIE, I-495) eastbound from the Queens Midtown Tunnel in Manhattan or the Throgs Neck Bridge or Whitestone Bridge in Queens to exit 62, and follow Nicolls Road (Route 97) north for 9 miles.  The main entrance to the University is on the left.  To find the campus via GPS, enter the address "100 Nicolls Road, Stony Brook, NY 11790."

BY TRAIN
Take the Long Island Railroad's Port Jefferson line from Penn Station in Manhattan to Stony Brook.  The LIRR station is at the north end of the campus; bus service to the central campus is provided.  Trains to and from Penn generally require transfers at Jamaica or Huntington.  Hicksville is also a transfer point on some lines.

BY FERRY
Car ferries cross Long Island Sound at Bridgeport, Connecticut to Port Jefferson, Long Island.  Take Route 25A west to Nicolls Road, and turn left on Nicolls.  The University entrances are the first three intersections you come to.

From New London, Connecticut to Orient Point, Long Island, take Route 25A west to Nicolls Road and proceed as above.

Event is FREE for all attendees. 

Feast:
No feast or dayboard will be provided but there are cafeterias around the campus and we will have information about local off-site restaurants available at the event.
