The Shire of Panther Vale welcomes the people of the East Kingdom to join us for the Kingdom’s celebration of Twelfth Night (for real this time, we hope).  In this the most festive season of the year we celebrate the returning of the light by inviting you to join us for fun, feast, and friends.  Panther Vale welcomes you to join our Royal Majesties for a celebration of variety in customs, locations, and centuries.

Our site has an abundance of space, so we are pleased to be able to offer multiple activities and amenities.  There will be areas dedicated to classes, A&S displays as well as a competition.  Bards will have space to gather and to entertain.  There is room to accommodate both fencing and fighting (with the added bonus of having showers available).  And if your only desire is to have relaxed conversations with friends, you will find ample space to do so.  Remember to bring your purse so that you and your friends can stroll through our merchant area to get stocked up on those items you need for the upcoming event season.

Le fief de Panther Vale invite le peuple du Royaume de l’Est à se joindre à nous pour la célébration de la Fête des Rois du Royaume (pour de vrai cette fois, nous l’espérons).  En cette saison, la plus festive de l’année, nous célébrons le retour de la lumière en vous invitant à vous joindre à nous pour vous amuser, vous régaler et vous faire des amis.  Panther Vale vous invite à vous joindre à nos Majestés Royales pour une célébration de la variété des coutumes, des lieux et des siècles.

Notre site est doté de nombreux espaces, nous sommes donc heureux de pouvoir offrir de multiples activités et commodités.  Il y aura des espaces dédiés aux cours, aux expositions et concours A&S.  Les bardes auront suffisamment d’espace pour se rassembler et vous divertir.  Il y a de la place pour accueillir à la fois l’escrime et le combat (avec l’avantage supplémentaire d’avoir des douches disponibles).  Et si votre seul désir est d’avoir des conversations avec des amis, vous trouverez amplement d’espace pour le faire.  Vérifiez que vos bourses soient bien pleines d’écus sonnants et trébuchants pour que vous et vos compagnons puissiez déambuler parmi les marchands pour acquérir tout ce dont vous aurez besoin pour les prochains événements.

Feast Information:
Join us on a journey through time and tradition as we celebrate the return of the sun with our Royal Majesties at East Kingdom's Twelfth Night Feast. 

We will start in her majesty’s homeland with a very Britton-ish first course.  We will celebrate Yule with early period Celtic dishes recreated for the good people of the East in honor of the Queen.

From the homeland of the Celts we will travel forward in time and East to twelfth century Romania where the sturdy Saxons celebrated the return of the sun in their fortress churches.  Protecting the spice trade routes east to west.  This course will include dishes from the Saxon tradition but incorporating the eastern spices those steadfast warriors protected.

The last course will be from the Land recognized as Holy to three great religions.  We will move forward in time to the golden age of Islam.  We will draw from this cultural, scientific, and economic well spring to present a fair fit for our King. 

Three traditions, three locations, three times periods all drawn together into one celebration of the return of the light.

Information sur le festin :
Voyagez avec nous à travers le temps et les traditions alors que nous célébrons le retour du soleil avec nos Majestés Royales lors de la Fête des Rois du Royaume de l’Est.
Nous débuterons avec la patrie de Sa Majesté avec un premier service très breton-esque.  Nous célébrerons Yule avec des plats celtiques du début de la période recréés pour les bonnes gens de l’Est en l’honneur de la Reine.
De la patrie des Celtes, nous voyagerons dans le temps et vers le levant jusqu’à la Roumanie du XIIe siècle où les puissants Saxons célébraient le retour du soleil dans leurs églises forteresses en protégeant les routes commerciales des épices du levant au couchant.  Ce service comprendra des plats de la tradition saxonne, mais incorporant les épices orientales dont ces guerriers inébranlables protégeaient le commerce.
Le dernier service sera de la Terre reconnue comme Sainte à trois grandes religions.  Nous progresserons dans le temps vers l’âge d’or de l’Islam.  Nous puiserons dans ce printemps culturel, scientifique et économique pour présenter un service digne de Notre Roi !
Trois traditions, trois lieux, trois périodes historiques réunies en une seule célébration pour le retour de la lumière.


A&S Competition and Display:
As we celebrate the season, we too will celebrate the artisans of the East.  We will have an A&S competition and display.  In honor of the event’s theme, willing competitors will be asked to show their work around Light.  Please interpret this as you will and be as creative as you imaginations allow.  There is no documentation required except for a short explanation of how your work fits the theme.  Please feel free to include any other information about your work that you feel would help your viewer get a better understanding of your project, as the winner will be selected by populace choice.  We invite people who do not wish to compete to display their work as well.

Concours et exposition A&S :

Alors que nous célébrons la saison, nous célébrerons aussi les artisans de l’Est.  Nous aurons un concours et un exposition A&S.  En l’honneur du thème de l’événement, les concurrents seront invités à montrer leur travail dont le sujet sera ‘’La Lumière’’.  Vous pouvez interpréter ce sujet comme vous le souhaitez et être aussi créatif que votre imagination le permet.  Il n’y a pas de documentation requise, à l’exception d’une brève explication de la façon dont votre travail correspond au thème.  N’hésitez pas à inclure toute autre information sur votre travail qui, selon vous, aiderait les visiteurs à mieux comprendre votre projet, car le gagnant sera sélectionné par choix populaire.  Nous invitons les personnes qui ne souhaitent pas concourir à exposer également leur travail.

Armored Combat

Inspections and authorizations from 1030 - 11am.  Tourney at 11am until 2pm.  If the tourney ends before 2pm, the list will be open until 2pm.
12th Night in Panther Vale will offer a Prize Tourney.  Each fighter who wishes to enter the lists must bring a prize appropriate to their station in the Society.  What that looks like is determined by the individual fighter, but may be tokens, items, crafted things, or other items that would make an appropriate gift.  The gift is placed on a prize table.
The tourney will be run as a William Marshall Tournament.  This is a variation of the ransom concept.  Each fighter is given 5 coins at the beginning of the tourney for their ransom, regardless of their Society rank or title.  Fighting will follow SCA conventions.  With each loss, the losing combatant must give up a coin to the winning fighter.
As long as a fighter still has a coin they can continue to compete.
When fighters are out of coins they are eliminated from the tourney.  The fighter with the most coins at the end of the time period is the winner. 
The fighter, at the end of the tournament, with the most coins will pick a prize from the table first.  The last player eliminated will then pick, and so on, until all fighters have claimed a prize.

La période d’inspections et d’autorisation se déroulera de 10 :30 à 11 :00.  Le tournoi se déroulera de 11 à 14h.  Si le tournoi devait se terminer avant 14 h, la lice de combat demeurerait disponible jusqu’à 14h.
Le tournoi tenu lors de la Fête des Rois du Fief de Panther Vale permettra aux participants de choisir parmi les prix offerts par chaque un des participants.  Chaque participant devra fournir un prix de participation approprié à leur statut dans la SCA.  La nature du prix est entièrement à la discrétion du participant, mais pourrait être un gage personnel, on objet artisanal ou tout autre objet approprié pour être un présent.  Tous les prix seront disposés sur une table.
Le tournoi se déroulera tel le Tournoi de William Marshall.  Il s’agit en fait d’une variante du concept de rançon.  Chaque combattant se verra remettre 5 pièces au début du tournoi.  Chaque fois qu’un participant est vaincu, il doit remettre une pièce à celui l’ayant terrassé.

Tant et aussi longtemps qu’un combattant possède une ou des pièces, il peut continuer à combattre.  Lorsque le combattant se retrouve sans pièce, il doit quitter la lice de combat étant éliminé.
Le combattant ayant le plus de pièces à la fin du temps allouer est gagnant et choisira le premier un prix sur la table des prix.  Suivra le dernier combattant éliminé et ainsi de suite jusqu’à ce que tous les participants aient choisi un prix.

This is your friendly MIC for East Kingdom Twelfth Night!  I am excited to announce a rather unique format for the tournament to be held at Twelth Night this coming January.
We will be having an SCA-Legal Mensuer tournament!
"What's that?" You ask?
You will be positioned within measure of your opponent.  Your offhand is planted on your waist and your feet cannot move (except for balance needs, or safety). 
The only legal strike zone is the mask!  Due to the nature of the format, which is traditionally practiced with very sharp blades, any strike to the mask is considered scoring, even if it normally wouldn't be (except percussive blows, which are still not permitted, of course). 
The plan is for a double elimination, but if numbers are low, we'll turn it into a round robin.

Edit:  due to the nature of the tournament, spears will not be permitted for the Mensuer; however, feel free to bring them for pickup matches or if we can do the single elimination after.
Inspections will start at 11:00 and the tournament will start at noon.

Ici votre Maréchal en charge de la Fête des Rois du Royaume de l’Est.  Je suis particulièrement excité d’annoncer un tournoi des plus spécial qui se tiendra lors de cet événement de janvier prochain.  Nous tiendrons un tournoi SCA de ‘’Proximité fixe’’
Vous vous demandez de quoi il s’agit?
Vous serez placé à une distance fixe de votre adversaire.  Votre main libre sera fixée à votre hanche et vos pieds ne pourront bouger.
La seule zone de touche sera le masque.  Les coups d’estoc sont, comme à l’habitude prohibée.
Nous souhaitons que le tournoi soit selon la forme de double élimination, mais si la participation est faible nous opterons pour un tournoi à la ronde.  Si vous avez des questions, contactez-moi.
