Now with Heraldic Consultations!!
We will have herald volunteers to be available and eager to assist with names, devices and badges for all your heraldry needs!
“HistoriCool” - An A&S Display to show off your Scadian skills. Crafting and creating, building and brewing, singing and sewing, our SCA experience wouldn’t look, feel, sound, or taste the way we have come to know it if it weren’t for our Artisans and the environment they create. Show off that silk banner you painted to represent your household or that tunic you embroidered in your own heraldry. The Shire of Midland Vale welcomes you to display how you’ve applied period skills/materials to create the look of our “modern-medieval” times! Of course, any entry is welcome and does not need to fit the theme of the display. This display is purely for the enjoyment of those entering and viewing, however, a populace choice winner will be selected!
Sticking with the event’s theme of “five,” we will have two tournaments! But two and five are different numbers! Well, the first tournament for the event will be what we are calling the “five form death tourney” where each fencer will choose five of the forms they are authorized in (excluding any with spear and Cut & Thrust) and will rotate through their forms in each round. They may choose the order they are fighting the forms in but cannot repeat a form until they’ve used all five (anyone authorized in less than 5 forms will use single for the additional forms). Should you take your best form early to give you a better chance of advancing or will you save it for later when you may need it most! It’s a double elimination tournament so strategy in form selection will be important!
Our other tournament will be one you may have seen at Pennsic hosted by Atlantia, the “5-man melee tourney!” Each team will consist of 5 members with a maximum of 1 MoD and 2 non-MoD OGRs per team. Teams will face off in a last man standing mini-melee.
After the tournaments, we will fence our hearts out as we prepare for Pennsic. What kind of melees do we have planned? One will have two tri to not have fun with what we have in store four you! It will be fun fun fun fun fun!
As we come together for our fifth Birthday and our fifth Tournament of Daffodils, surely we can pull off five tournaments!! A good Roman melee to wake and warm everyone up. A few speed tournaments as variety is the spice of life! And in Daffodil tradition a round robin! And a birthday special surprise tournament!!!
Upon checking in, all will receive three tokens. These tokens are meant to be given out, at your own discretion, to a rattan combatant who inspires you this day. They who receive the most tokens will be named the Tournament winner!
Come join us at the Thrown Weapons range as we celebrate Midland Vail's birthday with a tournament. Come over at any time during the day and try your hand at cutting the candle wick with an axe, Cutting the cake with your knife and opening the presents with a spear.
6 axes to cut candle wick. 2 points to cut the wick, -2 if you break the candle
6 knives to slice the cake, 2 points to slice the cake
