Nova Schola

Once upon a time, the Shire of Hartshorn-dale held an event that celebrated knowledge.  It was called Nova Schola.  We’re pleased to announce its return.  Please join us for a day of learning, dancing, and fellowship.  We plan to have classes on many subjects from service to A&S, as well as dance.  Whether you’re new to the Society or have been around long enough to remember the original Nova Schola, we hope to have something of interest.

We will be offering a lunch box option for attendees (1 per person) for an additional $5.  These will be made by Hartshorn-Dale's "Dining with Lorenzo" cooking group.  The current menu plans (subject to change) are sliced beef or falafel, flatbread, cabbage salad, cookie, clementine, and soup.  There will be options for vegetarian and gluten free as well.

Some things that will be happening at the event ...
- Garbed Plushies!  Do you have a small furry stuffed animal that you create garb for? Bring it and show them off!!
- A silent auction for various and sundry items.

A&S Plushie Display Details

Nova Schola will include a specialized A&S Display:  a garbed plushie (stuffed animal) display!  Plushies are so easy to make garb for - you don’t need a lot of fabric, and they never complain about the fit!  You may enter as many plushies as you wish.

We have a populace choice vote in several categories:

Most creative
Most historically accurate
Most surprising/unexpected
Most adorable
Most stabby (best armored or martial plushie).


Site restrictions:  NO alcohol and NO smoking, including vaping. 

We will be following all active Public and SCA COVID policies, regarding vaccine requirements, checking and mask wearing. 

By attending this event, you are confirming that you (as well as any minors that you are parent or guardian for):
- Are not experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 as identified by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention at CDC.gov, including but not limited to:
* Fever or Chills
* Dry cough, shortness of breath, or difficultly breathing
* Muscle or body aches
* New loss of sense of taste or smell;
- Have not been near someone with confirmed or suspected COVID-19 within the last 14 days without following CDC guidance for self-quarantine;
- Agree to follow all COVID safety restrictions imposed by the SCA, the event site, ad/or local, state, provincial, or federal government or health authorities.

Although the SCA complies with all applicable laws to try to ensure the health and safety of our event participants, we cannot eliminate the risk of exposure to infectious diseases during in-person events.  By participating in the in-person events of the SCA, you acknowledge and accept the potential risks.  You agree to take any additional steps to protect your own health and safety and those under your control as you believe to be necessary.
