John Barleycorn Returns

Oyay!!!  Oyay!!!  Pray attend our most recent missive from our Lord John Barleycorn!!!


Greetings Dear Lords and Ladies, I humbly beg of you to heed this as I return tired and spent from the war with the most dastardly foe Sir Covid of 19 and his most despicable brother Sir Delta!!!  They thought to break me and my many followers !!!  Though for a time I saw some fall and feared we would not triumph, the tide did turn in our favor and now as I see the lush green hills of my beloved Northpass just on the horizon I pause to send this scribe before me and ask all of you to gather and welcome us home!!!  It does not matter how large or small the victory ,What matters is this....  We are here to tell the tale !!!  We are here to warn our Brothers and Sisters in Arms!!!  AND most important of all We are here to Live and fight another Day!!!  To that end, let us gather in small groups and families dotted over the hills and rejoice !  Let us raise a glass for the bravery of the fallen, the bravery of those still in the mire of the front lines and the continued bravery of the caregivers who continue on without complaint !  Bring the wee small ones out to learn from our example and zest for life!!!  Never has this been more important , It is time for us to celebrate what we have accomplished here and now ! 

Greetings Dear Gentles , As We prepare for our Lord John Barleycorn's return a day long Celebration with activities and entertainments await you!  For the young we will have Lady Kunigunde and Lady Arnora Ketilsdottir bringing you a great slate of youth activities for both older and younger children to enjoy!  Please come join us!  A & S youth activities, including Bardic ,Illumination, Coloring, Basketmaking, Storytelling, and Hula dancing.  For the adults ,We will have Our Provincial Heavy Weapons Tournament and Provincial Heavy Weapons Championship.  With our Champion away serving and training in Mundania , At His Request Perez Ben Meir Gershon has stepped up to take charge and organize the Tournament to choose the New Provincial Heavy Weapons Champion .  There will be an overall Tournament Winner and the next Provincial Champion will be chosen from amongst those who are vying for the title.  Also on the roster is Our Archery Tournament and Provincial Archery Championship.  Our Current Archery Champion Mongo Chinua will put on a challenging and exciting tournament for all archers attending and to choose his Successor.  There will be an overall Tournament winner and Provincial Archery Champion will be chosen.  Next is Our Fencing Tournament and Provincial Fencing Championship.  Heed the Words from Our Fencing Champion Engel der Pfau "Seven years ago in late 2019,in front of a large and excited crowd, on a beautiful sunny day in Tryon Park/The Cloisters N.Y.  I fought and won the Crown Province of Ostgardr Fencing Championship.  Since then ,I have made it to few practices ,and perhaps not always been the citizen I would like to have been.  I have also done little Fencing, as the use of plate armour now speaks more to my heart than any other martial pursuit.  But ,now I am given the opportunity to use my rare skill of always making things interesting/being really loud to benefit others and the Province.  I am moving soon, and downsizing, and so offer up this Helm , A 16th century Burgonet, to the Winner of the Fencing Tourney to be held at "John Barleycorn's Return" Event the 11th of September.  They will also receive the Baronial Tabard ,the Baronial Sword and Scabbard that I am repainting.  The Tourneys format will involve dice rolls to determine weapon style.  Another category "Most Prettiest" will have another reward and be judged by the crowd assembled .So Please COME AND TELL YOUR FRIENDS ,AND TAKE RICH BOUNTY FROM IT !  "The time schedules to be forthcoming.  Of Course, On Our Roster is "Sir Edward's Memorial Challenge" for those Brave enough to take it on!  In addition ,on Our Roster of activities Is a most wonderous Demonstration by Lady Astridr Knarrarbringa who will show us her Lampworking skills.  This Art began in the Fifth Century B.C.  and became widely practiced in Murano, Italy in the Fourteenth Century is truly delightful candy for the eyes!  Also A number of Surprise Demonstrations to delight the eye and palate.  We have a new addition to our day , Our first Annual "Bartertown" for those who like the thrill of the hunt without weapons!  Please contact Lady Raymonda the Second about trade.(contact below) Carry In, Carry Out.  There will be NO money exchange for items, only trade.  Items must be all SCA related .Tables are limited ,First come-First serve.  All others must set up on a blanket or personal table.  We are sorry that No feast will be available BUT ,fear not as there will be pre-pkg snacks and drinks (both nutritious and not) for we would not want you to expire before the Court Of Viceroy Il-Kha'an Suuder Saran and Vicerine Il-Khatun Lada Monguligin !  At this time We would like to mention Albrecht Anker and his lovely Lady Lani who have offered to live stream Our event (or parts of it) for those members who cannot attend due to health concerns , We have accepted this gracious offer so as to include our Dear Gentles and wish them well during these trying times.  We miss you all and hope to see you In-Person real soon !
