As we huddle through the dark of winter; and in the time between winter solstice and the first marks of spring, we huddle around the fire.  We tell stories, sing songs, eat food, teach lessons, and last through the long nights together.

Join us for Deck the Halls of Valhalla!  Hosted by the Canton of Broken Bridge, it is our yearly event celebrating togetherness in Nordic style.  In previous years while we have celebrated in person, this year we are celebrating at our ethereal hall (aka Zoom).

Schedule for the Evening:

First Round of Classes:

Slavic Embroidery - Hanya Vladimirovna Polotskaya
An overview of common stitches and imagery in east Slavic folk embroidery.  Class includes examples of common motifs and their meanings and uses.

A Whetsone in Winter:  Practical drills for Sharpening Skills When You’re Stuck Indoors During the long months of the Great Plague - Perez Effendi
Perez Effendi has learned to hone his fighting skills in a confined space.  In this class, we'll cover how you can practice your heavy combat skills in spaces no bigger than 7x7 feet! 

Viking Age Foodways - Friderch Grimme
This class will introduce you to the ingredients and cooking methods available in Scandinavia during the Viking age from information that has come down to us from this time period from available archeological information.

How to Make friends with your Sewing Machine - Jenne ChildSlayer
Join us WITH your sewing machine for a class that will cover the basics, some simple troubleshooting, and a chance to ask questions.  Please have:  sewing machine, a bobbin (full or empty), scissors, a spool of thread, sewing machine needles (at least the one IN your machine) and your user manual.  Scrap fabric would be helpful, but a couple of paper towels will work.
