SCA101 (aka, what to expect at your first event), Pennsic 101 (how to have the best time possible FOR YOU)
Eanraig Maceanraig has graciously offered a class on Footwork - drills in period, training, purposeful stepping. Geared to apply to both disciplines (fencers and a heavy). Notebooks for anyone attending is highly encouraged. Heavy into biomechanics, and attention on individual's unique build and how to make it work for you.
From Catelin Straquhin, current Bardic Champion: Hear ye, all bards near and far!
The Crown Province of Ostgardr is seeking a new Bardic Champion as in tradition with the laws of the land and as requested by the Il-Khan and Il-Khanate. All performers, small or large, novice to champ, are encouraged to compete.
This year’s theme for the competition is “Stars”. Bards are able to perform pieces of their choosing, as long as one performance has the word “star”, or performs a piece that relates to a star/stars, metaphorically or literally.
There will be three rounds of performances and, in the case of a deadlock between finalists, a bardic death match of the Il-Khan and Il-Khatun’s choosing will be selected.
The competition will commence at 12PM EST. Bards are to keep their performances to a five minute limit per performance.
The winner of the competition will be declared as the new Bardic Champion of Ostgardr and awarded a baldric signifying their station, a reliquary belonging to the station, and all the privileges as responsibilities associated with the title.
We look forward to seeing the great talent of Ostgardr at the Canton of Lion’s End event “Twinkle Twinkle Little Schola” on May 9th, 2020, located at The Locust Valley Reformed Church.
