Event details

Greetings friends of the known world,

These years have brought us all heavy burdens to carry but as the mud thaws and our Kingdom receives a new crown, it seems fitting that we make time to lay down our load and enjoy a relaxing day in each other's company.  After being shuttered for two years, The Black Gryphon Inn is delighted to announce that they will be opening their doors Saturday, April 23rd for just this very reason.

The day will consist mostly of the pleasant mingling between friends and the sunshine, but there will also be Kubb matches throughout the day run by Lord Jon Renwick and the Baronial Bardic Competition hosted by Úlfarr Gylðir.

While we are gracious hosts and will provide a day board of assorted snacks and refreshments, we do encourage you to bring whatever you would like to enjoy throughout the event.  There is also a bar available on site.

Treat this day as one where you can indulge in all the things you have missed doing.  We encourage everyone to bring games, instruments, the urge to dance, and spinners are welcomed to practice everything except the flaming bit of their routines.

We hope you join us in filling Black Gryphon Inn with the sound of stories, laughter, and long overdue rapport.

Lo!  I am Úlfarr Gylðir, current Baronial Bard of Settmour Swamp, and I bring to you word of the upcoming Baronial Bardic Tourney to be held at the Black Gryphon Inn in the Canton of Gryphonwald on April 23.

The Baron and Baroness of Settmour Swamp invite all good gentles who wish to stand as Bardic Champion for the upcoming year to come forward and demonstrate their skills in Storytelling, song, and poetry.

This year's competition will be in two rounds.  In each round, the competitors will perform a period or period-style piece, of no longer than 8 minutes before their excellencies and all good gentles in attendance.

But!  There is a twist…

We all know that the past few years have been difficult.  But we as a people, as individuals, as a Barony, and as a Society have persevered.

So to celebrate the collected strength of us all, we ask that one of your pieces speak to the theme of resilience and perseverance, whether it be a song, a sonnet, an epic tale of bravery or endurance, whatever makes your heart sing.

We also implore that you tell us how you feel this particular piece embodies the theme – it need not be more than a sentence.

So come one and all!  Thrill us with your tales, enchant us with your songs, and woo us with your poetry!  We look forward to your performances!
