Event details

Bhakail is once again holding a Commons on Sunday June 23rd.  As always we will be holding a heavy weapons tournament to determine our Baronial Heavy Weapons Champion and our Populace Heavy Weapons Champion.  We will also be holding a rapier tournament to find a new Baronial Rapier Champion and Populace Rapier Champion.  We invite all to come and compete for a chance to be a Bhakail champion.

Heavy Weapons Tournament:  The format is round robin with the weapons chosen by a roll of the dice.  In order to enter the tournament, you must challenge the current champion.  The rules of the challenge will be announced at the tournament.  Those who win their challenge will get an advantage in the tournament, they will be allowed one redo dice roll.  Those who lose the challenge will be allowed to compete in the tourney but they must accept the dice roll for the weapon they can use.

The Vicar's Cake or Death Tournament:  In honor of the Vicar's installation, Bhakail will host a Cake or Death Tournament in which the participants will be challenged to choose “Cake Or Death?” If Cake, they will be given cake (gluten-free and dairy-free options will be available).  If Death, they can choose to enter the rapier, rattan, or joke tournament.  All tournaments will be single elimination format, jokes to be judged by the assembled crowd.  Winners of the tournament will get a special treat.  Losers will also get cake.

The last court of Baron Rowan will begin at 4 pm.

There is no site fee for this event and no feast.  There will be a potluck dayboard, please bring a dish to share.  There will be grills available for cooking and we will provide charcoal.  Lady Alesia is coordinating the potluck, please contact her at if you have any questions.  As the site is a state park alcohol is not permitted.

There are picnic tables under the pavilion but we recommend you bring a chair to watch the fighting.  There will be plenty of room for pop-ups or pavilions.

We are also having a plague sale of extra gold key items and the Constables Lost and Found from the last few years that have not been claimed.  Donations of garb or other SCA related items you no longer need are gratefully accepted.  All proceeds will benefit the Barony of Bhakail.

This is a great event to bring friends and family who are interested in the SCA but have been intimidated by the cost of other events.

The site is a state park.  There are a few paved paths leading to the bathrooms but much of the site is grass and the ground is uneven.

The park does permit dogs, please keep them leashed and clean up after them.

Site Opens: 10:00 am
Site Closes: 6:00 pm
