COVID-19 Statement

The East Kingdom and the event staff are committed to making sure that our friends & families stay safe. Kingdom guidelines for COVID safety change often. Masks that conform to CDC standards and worn properly over the nose and mouth are required of all attendees over the age of 2 in all indoor spaces or in public tents or pop-ups with 3 or 4 walls up and may only be lowered briefly for eating or drinking. Masks are optional when outdoors and we encourage frequent handwashing and social distancing. Please take whatever steps you feel are necessary for your own sense of safety beyond the stated mandates.

All persons over the age of 5 are now required to show proof of vaccination or negative COVID test taken within 72 hours of the event. All persons over the age of 18 must also present government issued photo ID or a valid SCA membership card. Please have these in hand when checking in.

Although the SCA complies with all applicable laws to ensure the health and safety of our event participants, we cannot eliminate the risk of exposure to infectious diseases during in-person events. By participating in the in-person events of the SCA, you acknowledge and accept the potential risks. You agree to take any additional steps to protect your own health and safety and those under your control as you believe to be necessary.

Event details

Come join the Shire of Glenn Linn as we presents a brand new Norse themed event July 5th - 8th at the Washington County Fair Grounds in Greenwich NY.

This is an SCA event that is all inclusive and welcoming to all historic recreation / medieval themed battle game participants including the good folk of Markland, Kingdom of Acre, Amtgard, Dagorhir, Hearthlight and similar organizations. 

Planned Activities Include:

MERCHANTS!  MERCHANTS!  and yes MERCHANTS!  Visit our market and spend your coin among the 18 merchants who will be on site...  don't be tight fisted, we love our merchants and you should as well.  Please visit our event web site to see the list of fine merchants that will be on site!

A&S ACTIVITIES
In the Dance Hall - Period Dance and A&S display
- Adult A&S display
- Youth A&S display
- Dance with instruction an possibly a Competition with prizes

In the Northern University
- Assorted Classes – still accepting teachers

In the Mead Hall
- Mead brewing competition
- Skaldic (Bardic) performance, classes & Competition

On the Game Field / Community Fire
- Attempt at the largest drumming circle in the North East (bring your drum)
- Tribal, Belly and other dance performances welcome and encouraged
- Assorted Norse field games including Kubb and May I Strike

YOUTH & FAMILY ACTIVITIES
- Youth Quest (throughout the fairground)
- Family Fun Day Activities (assorted activities for the little ones and their folks)

MARSHALED ACTIVITIES
- Both melee scenarios will be run separately for heavy (with combat archery), youth fencing and boffer.
- Viking House Burning melee battle
- Long Ship capture the flag resurrection melee battle
- Charity Holmgang tournament (Heavy)
- Triad Warlord Tournament (Heavy)
- Additional tournaments to come -
- Royal Rounds in Archery and Thrown weapons
- Missile Weapon Tournament Consisting of:
The Fleeing Monk archery shoot
Whack A Warlord spear clout
The Cut the Braids of Sven and Helga ax throw
- Siege Weapon practice field
- Archery Tag practice field and tournament for Combat Archers

BATTLE GAME ACTIVITIES
- Foam / Boffer melee scenarios (under a unified rule set) inclusing the Viking House Burning melee battle and the Long Ship capture the flag resurrection melee battle
- Archery tag course available for LARP archers
- Cross-over play opportunities (Amtgard, Dag, Hearth etc.) encouraged.

SOCIAL ACTIVITIES
- Welcome Stew will be served at the Mead Hall Friday evening first come, first served.
- Saturday evening a Thyng Assembly will be held in the Thyng Hall to name winners and award prizes.
- Attendance based door prizes include three leather birka bags, two viking sea chests and a Viking a-frame tent.

Directions:

From MA, CT, and the south:
Make your best way to I-87 north of Albany.  Take exit 14.  After crossing over the interstate, in 0.5 miles take a right (Henning Rd).  In 0.9 miles, turn right onto Lake Ave/NY-29.  Continue 9.25 miles.  Turn right at the T-intersection onto Rt 4/NY-29.  Drive .3 miles then turn left onto NY-29/Ferry St.  Continue 2 miles.  At the sign for the Washington County Fair, turn left onto Old Schuylerville Rd.  Enter at gate C.  Drive down the road to gate where you will check in.

From ME, NH, VT, and the North:
Make your best way to I-87 south.  Take exit 15, at the end of the ramp turn left onto Rt 50.  After crossing the interstate bear right, just before McDonald's, onto Truck Route 29.  At the light, turn right onto Weibel Ave.  At the T-intersection, turn left onto Lake Ave/NY-29.  Drive 9 miles.  Turn right at the T-intersection onto Rt 4/NY-29.  Drive .3 miles then turn left onto NY-29/Ferry St.  Continue 2 miles.  At the sign for the Washington County Fair, turn left onto Old Schuylerville Rd.  Enter at gate C.  Drive down the road to gate where you will check in.

Family fee includes up to 2 adults and their children, proof of membership is required for member rate. 

Feast:
There will be no feast however there will be a large pot of welcome stew available at the Mead Hall Friday evening on a first come first served bases.  So if you get in and do not feel like cooking after set up, come by for some warm stew on us.
