Event details

Welcome to 14th century Florence, where plague is stalking the streets.  Join us as we escape the city to our country retreat and seek to amuse ourselves.

Fighters, bring your armor and weapons.  Fencers, bring your rapiers.  Archers, bring your bows and arrows, and those who practice target throwing, bring your axes and knives.  Artisans, bring your Arts and Sciences projects.  The winners of these tournaments will be our Baronial Champions.  The fighting, archery, and thrown weapons competitions will be held on Saturday.  Fencing competition will be on Sunday.  In addition, a brewing contest will be held on Saturday.

After a long day of events we will be having a great Italian feast on Saturday evening prepared by Lady Charis.  The feast will be limited to 100 gentles, so we ask you to please register early.  After the feast we challenge you to gather around our fire pit and entertain us with your songs and stories.  The best of all will be named our Bardic Champion.

For those looking to use their wits, we offer you a mighty quest based on Boccaccio’s Decameron.  It promises to be fun and challenging.  The Quest will begin at 1 PM on Sunday.  Children’s teams are welcome, but they must be accompanied by an adult.

We ask that you supervise your children at all times.  Anyone under the age of eighteen who is not with a parent must be accompanied by an adult and must present a consent form signed by the parent listing the parent’s contact information.  If a minor does not have a blue membership card, a minor’s waiver must be signed by the parent/legal guardian and presented at Troll.  Copies of this waiver are available on-line at http://www.sca.org/docs/waivers.html and will be available at the event.

The camping area will be open from 4 PM Friday until 11:30 AM Monday.  It is a damp site, which means beer, wine, and mead are permissible, but please no distilled liquor.  Running water is not available on site, so please bring enough bottled water to last the weekend.  Port-a-Johns, dumpsters for garbage, and bins for recyclables will also be provided.  In addition to feast gear, you will need chairs and a table, or a blanket to sit on for the feast.  There will be a large, central fire pit for socializing.  Pets are welcome so long as they are leashed and cleaned up after.

There will be an Inn on site run by Rachel of Gwynedd.  Several fast food establishments are a short distance away.

Feast menu:

White Torte - a sweet crust filled with a variety of cheese and spices

Rice Fritters - risotto rice mixed with parmesan cheese and lightly fried

Baby Onions braised with bay leaves

Sausage with baby cabbage in a light sauce

Coppiette - thinly sliced steak with herbs and pancetta

Chicken Romania - chicken sauteed with onions and stewed in pomegranate juice

Tendril Pie - sweet tart plum pie

Italian Bread with spreads

The ingredient list will be posted.  Please contact Lady Charis Accipiter (charisacci@comcast.net) with any concerns or special needs with regard to the feast.
