Event details

On a fine spring day in Settmour Swamp (i.e.  raining) Their Excellencies went to Their library to peruse Their favorite, most treasured, irreplaceable tome - The Codex of Wit and Wisdom.  This one book contains the Wit and Wisdom accumulated over these last 24 Quests.
Imagine Their chagrin at finding the revered Codex missing!  Oh, how dire Their distress at its mysterious disappearance!  What fiend could have so despoiled Their Excellencies library and made off with the Codex of Wit and Wisdom?
Thus do Alexander MacGregor and Rhiannon de Carreg Cennen, Baron and Baroness of Settmour Swamp, call on all gentles of goodly heart and stout frame to aid them in the recovery of this pilfered grimoire.  Should the Codex be lost, it will be up to the gentles assembled to compile anew the record of Wit and Wisdom for this fair barony.  All gentles so desirous of lending their aid to this most noble task are called to assemble at the Fireman's Field in Neshanic Station, NJ from May 23rd through the 26th.  At that time we will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Quest with tournaments (heavy weapons, fencing, archery, youth combat), feasting, a brewing competition, songs and stories around the bonfire, children's activities, and such merriment the likes of which none of us will soon forget.
The revelry begins Friday at sundown (site opens at 4 PM) and will continue unabated through the weekend.  On Saturday, tournaments will be held to select this year's Baronial champions.  Following the tournies a sumptuous Feast will be presented by Charis Accipiter (limited to 100).  Once we have eaten and drunk our fill, we will assemble at the bonfire to hear the songs and stories of the Bardic competition.  Sunday brings us the Quest for Wit and Wisdom - the Lost Codex at 1PM.  Upon conclusion of the Quest, Their Excellencies will hold court and the gallant gentle(s) who completed the Quest, as well as our new Champions, will be presented.
Children are most welcome, and there will be many activities for them to participate in.  However, we ask that you supervise your children at all times.  Anyone under the age of eighteen and is not with a parent must be accompanied by an adult and must present a consent form signed by the parent which lists the parent's contact information.  If a minor does not have a blue membership card a minor's waiver must be signed by the parent / guardian and presented at Troll.  Copies of said waiver will be available at Troll.
The camping area will be open from 4PM Friday until 11:30 Monday.  It is a damp site; which means beer, wine, and mead are permissible, but please no distilled liquor.  Running water is not available on site, so please bring enough bottled water to last throughout the weekend.  Porta-John's and dumpsters for garbage (and bins for recyclables) will also be provided.  There will be a large, central fire pit for socializing.  Pets are welcome, so long as they are leashed and cleaned up after.
Reservations should include both your mundane and SCA names, whether you are day-tripping or camping, and a way to contact you (phone #, e-mail, etc.) Paid members are also asked to include proof of membership.  If, after sending a reservation, you are unable to attend please contact the autocrat.  Event fees will be refunded if we are able to fill your reservation.  All refunds will be reviewed after the event.
Merchants are most welcome, and there is no merchant fee.  We do ask that you bring your tables and PLEASE pre-reg so we can alot you enough space.  There will be an Inn on site and there are several fast food establishments a short distance away.  Throughout the weekend the Barony of Settmour Swamp will be holding its annual "yard sale".  here you may find many "gently used" (i.e.  not crushed by a Duke) items for your enjoyment.
