Event Last Modified: March 19th, 2013

Event details

On this day in 1430, Margaret of Anjou, Queen Consort of Henry VI was born in the Duchy of Lorraine.  As we celebrate the anniversary of her birth, the Barony of Settmour Swamp celebrates its own rebirth and spring renewal with a visit by Their Royal Majesties Edward and Thyra and the investiture of the Baronial heirs.

This will be a day full of celebration as we welcome our new Baron & Baroness, Lord Erec L'Claire & Maîtresse Jehannine de Flandres.

Tournaments will be held for armored combatants, rapier duelists, and thrown weapons.  The arts will be celebrated with displays, as well as the traditional Mudthaw bread-baking competition.  So make plans to join us for this day of celebration.

An Adult & Youth Arts and Sciences Display will be run by Lady Caterina Giaocchini (Kasia).  MAS@settmourswamp.eastkingdom.org

Brewers' Roundtable will be run in the early afternoon; please contact Maîtresse Jehannine de Flandres for details.  j.dflandres@yahoo.com

The Annual Mudthaw Bread Baking Competition will be run by Lady Judith bas Rabbi Mendel.  mcmendelsohn@optimum.net
Entries will be accepted in the following categories for the baking competition:  period recipe, bread with spread and dessert bread.  A new category of "novice" is being added this year to encourage new bakers and those who have not competed before.  Judges will give preference to those entries which could have been made in period and have documentation.  Please include a full ingredient list for all entries.  Entries in the period recipe category MUST include documentation.

Greetings unto those good gentles attending the festivities at Mudthaw.  We invite you to help in the effort to pad the war chest as the drums grow louder toward this Pennsic War!  A fundraising effort will be taking place that will pay homage to our four legged friends, those loyal steeds that ride into battle and those who stay by our sides in comfort.  Make ready the fan fare as a great tournament approaches at the Coronation of Gregor IV & Kiena II!  Your donation will sponsor one of the horses that will be taking part in the festivities at Coronation.  You may bestow the honor on the horse of your choice if you are attending Coronation or you may send your honors to the steed with wishes of luck.

Cookies/muffins suitable for horses will be the tokens for purchase, there will also be dog treats for your own four-legged companions as well as some gentle friendly fare.  We encourage you to show your support and declare for these brave and gallant riders and horses taking the field for the celebration of the Coronation of our monarchs.

All proceeds benefit the war chest.
