Amanda works for a college library in the Capital District of NYS. Known as Aoife inghean Conchobair in the SCA, she focuses on the Bardic Arts, telling stories, writing poetry, singing songs, playing harp, and occasionally being a part of the infamous traveling bardic gong show. She dabbles in the textile arts in her spare time as well.
She is a resident of Vestfell Farmstead and apprenticed to Master Toki Redbeard.
Aoife is a late 7th Century Irish woman. Key events that would have affected her in her lifetime would include the Synod of Whidby (which attempted to bring the Celtic church in line with the Roman church), as well as the plague that swept through the British isles starting in 694. I tend to think she was likely a Celtic Christian who clung to many of the aspects of the Pelagian heresy. While the Irish adopted Christianity quickly, they were slow to let go of their own interpretations thereof.
