War of Roses XXIV
King's and Queen's Champions of Arms
EK Central Region War Camp
Unbelted Champions Practice

War looms on the horizon.  Once again the houses of Lancaster and York will engage upon the Battlefields of Concordia to determine which house will be the victor of the Wars of the Roses.  A Call to arms is hereby issued to all warriors and artisans to come and lend your might to the house of your allegiance.

As in years past, we will be hosting both a Heavy Weapons and Fencing torchlight tourney to be held on Friday night.  This will include “The Claude the Frank Memorial Rattan Tournament”.  The opportunity of being Baronial Archery, Bardic, Rapier and Rattan Champions will also be determined this weekend.  In addition to the King's and Queen's Champion at Arms Tournament, we will be hosting the annual Tournament of Roses (a double elimination tournament where the winner recieves the annual Battle Chest).  Additionally, we will once again hold the Battle of Bosworth (a Field Battle where the War point will be given to the winning side that wins 3 out of 5 battles.  Each battle will be determined by “last color standing”.  The last 2 battles will include siege weapons and combat archery.), the Battle of Ludford Bridge (a bridge battle where the War point will be given to the winning side that wins 2 out of 3 battles.  There will be a maximum of three 15 minute battles.  The last battle will include siege weapons and combat archery.  Size and number of bridges will be determined on site.), and the Battle of Mortimer's Cross (a Field Battle for 45 minutes with ressurection.  Timed warnings will be called out by the marshal in charge at 30, 10 and 5 minutes.  The war point will be given to the side that “controls” 2 out of 3 of the pre-determined points at the end of the time.) and many other exciting rattan battles.  The second annual Siege Weapon tournament will also be held this year.

As in years past, we will also feature varied fencing tournaments such as the Survivors Tournament (a single elimination, wounds retained tournament.  The winner of this tournament will receive the Annual fencing war chest), a Slippery Slope Tournament (a triple elimination tournament where all Combatants start with a single sword.  After the first loss, they mist pick up a defensive weapon in their off hand along with the sword.  After the second loss, they must pick up an offensive weapon in their off hand along with the sword.  Third loss, out.) and the Annual Rapier and Roses Tournament (a challange/timed tournament.  Combatants must challenge their oponent to a duel.  The winner presents a rose to the loser's chosen benefactor in sympathy of the death of the loser).  There will also be plenty of space for bear pit, melee practice and pick ups all weekend.

There will be the traditional archery shoot where the highest single scoring archer will determine the War Point and win the Annual Archery prize.  (The Archery War Point will be awarded by winning 2 out of three of the clout, advancing warrior, and castle window.  Vicory in each shoot will be determined based on the highest total points earned at each shoot.  If there is a tie, the clout shoot will be used as the tie breaker.)

There will be an A&S Competition that will take place on Sunday, May 30th in the Barn.  Entries are limited to physical or visual arts.  Bardic and Brewing arts will be judged in separate competitions.  Unfortunately, there will not be space for other performing arts.  Entries will be judged in three categories:  NOVICE (non-Manche/Laurel artists and never won in previous competitions), OPEN, and YOUTH (under 18).  Attendance is not required.  Entries may be submitted by proxie.  Entries should arrive in the barn between 9AM and 10AM.  Entries will be on display between 10AM and 12 Noon.  Judging will take place between 12 Noon and 1PM.  In addition to the Bardic, Brewing and A&S competition, there will be A&S classes offered all weekend.

Children's activities include, but are not limited to, Castle building, Banner making, Filking, Outdoor games and Candle dipping.
