Lakewood XXI Ren Faire Demo

Good Gentles all!  The 21th Annual Lakewood Renaissance Faire Demo hosted by the Lakewood Lions Club will be held at Pine Park in Lakewood, NJ.

Entertainers of all types (singers, dancers, musicians, and storytellers) are encouraged to attend.  The Royal Procession will parade through the fairgrounds, so bring your finery.  A Living Chess Game will be played both days and a Hurley game is scheduled for Saturday afternoon so bring your sticks.  Anyone with banners showing their heraldry are invited to display them on the field.  Period-type shade pavillions may be set up on the lower field to provide cover for our participants.

There will be heavy weapons, fencing, archery and thrown weapons demos scheduled throughout the day Saturday and Sunday.  In addition, on Saturday the Baronial Champions' Tournaments will be held in the fields of Archery and Heavy Weapons Combat.  Baronial Court will be held after the field closes on Sunday.

Reservations:  At this demo, there is no site fee to attend and all ore more than welcome.  Camping is available, you must pre-register to camp.

Merchants:  Space is limited this year so anyone interested in reserving murchant space MUST contact the Merchant Autocrat by Aug.  24.  The Merchant fee is $40.  Make checks payable to “SCA Inc.  Barony of Carillion” and send to the merchant autocrat.

Site details:  Merchant and field setup will be held Friday evening.  Volunteers are needed.  The site opens Saturday at 7 am for additional setup and opens to the public at 10 am both days.  The faire closes at 6pm both days.  Volunteers are also needed for break-down Sunday evening.

Directions:

From the North:  Best route to the Garden State Parkway southbound.  Take Exit 91 and stay to the right on the exit ramp, towards Brick/Lakewood.  Continue straight through the first light, and at the second light, turn right onto Route 526 west (Lanes Mill Road).  **Continue on this road to Route 9 (Exxon Station and Diner on corners), cross over and ***after approx.  1 mile you will see a golf course on your left, get into the left lane.  Take the first left and follow the chain link fence to the first gate.  Turn right into the gate and follow the road to the site.
From the South:  Best route to the Garden State Parkway northbound.  Take Exit 90 and make a u-turn at the first light.  Follow to the third traffic light, and make a left onto Route 526 (Lanes Mill Road).  Continue from **above.
From East/West or NJ Turnpike:  Best route to Interstate I-195 to Route 9 South (Exit 26).  Continue for approx.  4 miles into Lakewood and turn right onto Route 526 (West County Line Road) at the Exxon station (if you pass the cemetery on the left you have gone to far).  Continue from *** above.
