Harvest's End: A Feast of Shadows **UPDATED** Event date: November 3rd, 2001
Hosted by Barony of Iron Bog - Swedesboro, NJ
Event details
The larders are full and stocked for winter-there is plenty.  The sun sets earlier and earlier and so the shadows grow.  Our work is over and it is time to revel in the rising darkness.  Come in from the cold and sit down to a hot feast with good drink.  Stare with awe at the entries in the arts and sciences competition (bring your best work!).  Don your finest mask or make one on the spot and dance through the evening to the music of the Bhakaili Branslers.
Prizes will be awarded to the finest from the A&S entries.  Another prize goes to the finest mask crafted on-site.  A heralds' table will be present to provide name and device consultations and to answer questions.  An afternoon instructor will be available to show you how to dance for the coming evening's delights, but if you are one that prefers gaming, there will be dice and games to chance your luck and skill.  Activities will also be provided for the younger gentles.
For those to whom a mask on their face means a blade in their hand, there will be fencing.  The Shire of Iron Bog will be hosting its Shire Fencing Champion Tourney.  The Tournament is open to all, however only a resident of Iron Bog or Barren Sands can claim the title.  General fencing will follow.  For those who prefer fighting instead, we can accommodate you as well.  Lists will open at 11:30.
The evening's feast will be gloriously prepared by Lord Fergus O'Farrel of Fenwick and Lady Grainne ni Bhraonain and served to your table at the first hint of darkness near five of the clock.  Entertainers are heartily welcomed.  Afterward there will be a masked revel with music, dancing, and merry-making.

Site info:  Site opens at 10:30 a.m.  and closes at 9:00 p.m.  Anyone present after 9:00 p.m.  graciously offers to help clean up.  The site is discretely damp - please bring your beverages in period containers (please take all containers with you).  Candles are permitted, though we prefer no open flames.  The site is not handicapped-accessible.

Reservations:  Cost is $6.00 for the day, which includes a light dayboard.  For those staying for feast, the cost is $12.00.  Children under 12 pay half price, and babes-in-arms are free.  The feast seats 80, so get your reservations in early.  Please send reservations, made payable to SCA, Inc.  - Shire of Iron Bog, to the autocrats, Fiadhnait inghean Ciaragain (Kimberly Ogbin) or Eldritch of Sylvan Glen (Matthew Miller), 2104 Timberline Drive, West Deptford, NJ 08066 (856-686-0105).  Merchants are welcomed to attend and asked to drop a warning to krogbin@yahoo.com so that we may plan space.  We are also asking that merchants kindly donate an item to the "prize pool" for the A&S competition, in liu of a fee.
