Hosted by Shire of Mountain Freehold - North Hero, VT

Event Last Modified: July 22nd, 2010

Mountain Freehold is proud to host the Crown Tournament of King Gryffith and Queen Aikaterine, on October 23, A.S.  45 at Camp Abnaki in North Hero, Vermont.  Street Address:  1252 Abnaki Rd, North Hero, VT 05474

Crown tournament will start at noon.  All entrants must be checked in by 11 AM, with a procession starting at 11:30 AM.  The tourney will be as his majesty deems.

The site is a beautiful YMCA camp.  Fighting will be outside, except in the most fierce of Northern gales.  Visitors should dress for the outside, in late fall on Lake Champlain, which can be very windy and chill.  The king has set aside a heated hall for the shelter of his subjects, where cheer may be had by a roaring fireplace, with hot drinks available all day long.

There will be indoor space set aside for children's activities.

Lodgings:  Minimally heated cabins are available with beds and mattresses, for an additional charge.  There are wash houses near each group of cabins with hot showers and flush toilets.  Guests may arrive Friday night.  There are also inns and hotels in the area for more luxurious accommodations (contact the autocrat for more information).

Dayboard:  A hot day board with soups, stews, cheese, fruit, and bread and hot drinks will be served, cooked by Lady Tegan Dragonsblood ni'Conmara (email:  teganfrog@yahoo.com).  All may partake of the lunchboard.

Feast:  Lady Tomyris of Stonemarche (email:  kalokany@hotmail.com) will serve a feast for 125 in the evening.  Contact the cooks for concerns about the menu.  Reservations for the feast will close on October 10, so that the cooks may prepare properly for our guests.  The only reservation is a paid reservation.  Enclosed flames are allowed in the feast hall.

Site Rules:  No alcohol is allowed on site, except for cooking and unopened gifts.  Only service animals are allowed.  Smoking is allowed in a marked area only.  Enclosed flames are allowed in the feast hall.

Accessibility:  The site is handicapped accessible outside.  All buildings have steps for access.  There is a ramp to the feast hall available (steep, wheelchair-bound people may need assistance).  There will be a handicapped access portolet outside.

Site fees:  Adults day fee (includes dayboard):  $12 pre-registered, $15 at the door.  Under 18 years:  $10.  Under 5 years:  free.  Overnight stay in cabins:  $20 per person per night, reservations recommended as there are a limited number of cabins.  There is a 'family cap' in place.  If you are bringing more than one child for overnight stay, please enquire with Duchess Marieke.  Cabins are available Friday and Saturday night.  Tenters pay the same overnight fees as those using cabins.  Overnight guests do not pay day fee.
Feast:  $12 additional per person, $10 for children under 17.
