It is time for the Kingdom to Gather and thank the outgoing monarchs, TRM Darius and Alethea, for all their hard work and perseverance, and to celebrate and pledge fealty to the new King and Queen, Andreas and Gabriella, who have made known they wish the the theme for Coronation to be 16th Century Dress (focusing on Germany and Spain.)
Scholars, warriors, artists, artisans, landed and court gentry, merchants, highborn and low make your way to Nordenhal for a day of wonders!
MEETINGS:
Chatelaine's Meeting at 3 PM
Athena's Thimble Meeting and paneling at 2 PM - 3 PM
*** FEAST & DAYBOARD -- By special request of his Highness Andreas the feast and dayboard is to be prepared by his own special cook, the Honorable Lady Zanas. *** YOUTH TOURNEY
Young Fighters of the East Kingdom are invited to don their finest and show off their prowess for the entertainment of all assembled. The Youth List opens at 10:00 with Division 1 running promptly at 12:30 (immediately following Coronation.) Followed by Divisions 2-4 after a lunch break. The day will end with a demonstration of skill and finesse--a single-sword, body part bingo tourney. The fighters will face each other round robin style with winner declared when someone collects at least one head, arm, body and leg strike against his/her opponents. Dress for show (there's a prize) and be prepared to be heralded! Donation of a new, in the package toy will please Their Majesties and the Shire, but is not required for entry into the Youth Tournament.
****TOURNEY
Let it be known that in honour of the Coronation of Andreas der Eisfalke and his most lovely lady wife Gabriella von Ulm there will be a tournament held as part of the festivities of this most auspicious of days. The exact format is yet to be determined, however, it will most definitely have a Toy induced resurrection.
The donation of one new in package toy will be the entry fee for this tournament, as well as the price of a resurrection. Notice a theme here? There will be two winners of this tournament, one winner determined in the usual manner, being the most skilled with his weapons this day, and the other being the participant who has brought the largest number of toys. The Shire of Nordenhal as well as our King and Queen find donations of toys to be most pleasing. The Prize for each of the winners is two, that's right TWO beautiful hand picked rattan staves, a gift from the new King himself!
It is considered to be a blessing and an act of courtesy to let the organizers of this tournament and gathering of youth fighters be made aware of your intent to participate. Please send a notice to Lady Ailionora at: lizzie1_r@yahoo.com
***SCHOLA
Coronation brings not only our Royalty and their retainers, but also our Kingdom's great scholars and many with a thirst to learn. Therefore, a track of classes will be offered, the theme being All Things Royal, to run during the day. If you would like to teach, please contact the Schola Chancellor, Mistress Alistrina de Mann, at alistrina@optonline.net . As a schedule of classes is developed, it will be posted on the event site!
***DESSERT COMPETITION
Mistress Brigitte's dessert challenge is in effect:
There will be two categories--
Nobody's Fool: In which entry and documentation shall be expected to be held to a higher degree of authenticity and yet still be suited to the pallet of the populous.

*** FIELDS OF GOLD
GOLDEN THREAD
The Golden Thread is a real time A&S competition for those who engage in the needle arts. Participants will be given four hours in which to complete a project. You should bring your own materials and supplies, however, some basic supplies will be available on the day.
You may enter at the Novice, Craftsman, or Master levels. (These are not the Athena's Thimble rankings). A Novice has basic skills and has never competed in an A&S needlework competition; a Craftsman has some skill and understanding of period needlework; a Master has extensive skills and period needlework knowledge.
Pre-registration, including your skill level, is desirable but not essential. You must bring your own stitching supplies. The stipulated designs are approximately 4x6, so plan your fabric accordingly. Your project need not be completely finished before judging.
Documentation is not required but will be worth bonus points. It should cover material choice and stitches chosen. Documentation should fit on a 3x5 card.
Please, no small children or music players without a headset.
Judging: In addition to the judges' awards in the three skill categories, there will be a Populace choice award. Tokens will be available for Populace Choice voting (and participants may vote).

You may enter at the Novice, Journeyman, or Master levels. A Novice has not received a High Order of Merit for any art form; a Journeyman has received a High Order of Merit for Calligraphy and Illumination. (If you have received a High Order of Merit for another art form, you have a choice of Novice or Journeyman). A Master is a Laurel in Calligraphy and Illumination. (If you are a Laurel in another art form, you have a choice of all three levels).
Pre-registration, including your skill level, is desirable but not essential. You must bring your own supplies. We will provide paper, which you must use. ***A & S Competition
Coronation A&S Competition
Entries cannot have won any previous competition.
There is no pre-registration. Entrants will fill out a brief form at the event.
Deadline for sign-up at the event is 11:30, entries must be set up by noon (enter and set up early if you don't want to miss court!). Entries should be collected at approximately 3:30-4:00.
There are no “categories” for this competition.
Entrants may enter as many items as they wish. Each item will be considered a separate entry and scored individually unless they are specifically entered as a “group” (for example “collection of fingerlooped braids” or “pens and inks”). Items may not be entered both individually and as part of a group.
Performance entries must be limited to five minutes. Performance entrants are requested to contact Lady Briony prior to Coronation at brionyodee@optonline.net for convenience only. Entrants will be accepted for performance entries at the event, but will earn a stern look from the coordinator.
Judging criteria: Each piece will receive a score of 1-5 on the following criteria:
Workmanship: does the entrant show a strong level of accomplishment in the skills used in creating the piece? Are there obvious errors in the finished look of the item?
Authenticity: how true to the specified period is the piece and the materials used?
Creativity: how well does the entrant expand on primary sources to make something unique yet true to that period? How well are problems encountered in production solved?
Documentation: how well does the entrant demonstrate the authenticity of his/her work and materials? How well do they guide the reader through their creative process in designing and executing their entry?
The maximum score for an entry is 20, however up to three “extra credit” points can be earned for how well the piece fits in with the “royalty” theme.
Prizes: There will be a prize for the highest scoring piece as well as a populous choice and best “royalty” themed piece.
All judges scores will be added together to generate the final score which will be used to select the winner.
Entrants will be able to take home their score sheets with comments at the end of the day. They are also welcome to invite comments from the general populous, but must supply writing implements and paper for them.
Naturally, the populous is encouraged to leave tokens for those whose work pleases them!!
