UPDATED November 9, 2008

Per Master Liam's request:  Please bring a non-perishable food item for donation to the South End Community Center Pantry in Fairfield County, CT.

St.  Eligius, the patron saint of artisans and metalworkers will be celebrated at Dragonship Haven’s upcoming Arts and Sciences Competition and Schola.  The craftspeople of the East Kingdom are invited to participate in the Saint Eligius Arts and Sciences Competition.  Prizes will be awarded to the winners of individual categories.  Special prizes will be going to those whose entries are recognized for Judges’ Choice, Peoples’ Choice and Baron’s Choice.  His Excellency will also be selecting the DSH Baronial A&S Champion.

Enter as many items as you wish and as many categories as you wish.  Last year’s entries were of such a high level, providing excellent competition and many opportunities for oohhing and aahhing!  We are looking forward to seeing such wonderful work again this year.

Categories of the competition will include, but are not limited to:  Clothing & Accessories pre-100 to 1000, 1000 to 1400, 1400 to 1600; Jewelry, Woven and Non-woven textiles; Clothing Embellishments; Dyeing; Manuscript Arts; Paints; Pigments and Inks; Printing Arts; Heraldry & Heraldic Displays; Fine Arts; Sculpture & Carving; Glasswork; Leather Work; Wood Work; Metal Work (non-jewelry); Armor; Weaponry; Historical Technologies; Culinary Arts (Brewing, Herbology, etc.); Domestic Items; Ceramics; Performing Arts and Research papers.

Last year we hosted the first St.  Eligius Schola.  What a success!!  Talented craftspeople from across the East came to share their special skills with the populace.  You can look forward to classes in needle/fiber arts; costuming, period history; and many other topics!

If you plan to enter the competition, you might want to consider pre-registering.  Please contact Dragonship Haven A&S Minister, Tristan de Warrell @ dave.helmers@ussign.com for a registration form.

PERFORMANCE SPACE!
Musicians, singers and performers, there will be a wonderful space set aside for you to perform.  Please feel free to come and entertain throughout the day.  Sign up as you arrive.  We hope to have musical/theatrical performances and readings all day long.

NEW this year!  We have two new activities to engage the creative talents of all!  First, we would like to decorate the hall with the colors and arms of the populace.  If you have a banner, flag or pennant, please bring it to display in the main feast hall.  There will be panels/pins for hanging banners and flagpoles/stands for displaying flags.

Second, we would like to have a FEAST table decorating competition.  If you plan to attend the feast, get together with a group of friends (plan ahead or gather new friends on site!) and create a table design.  Think of a theme (documentation would be nice, but not necessary) and have some fun!  (There will be some materials available for those who are planning onsite.) His Excellency will award tokens for most humorous; most historically accurate; children’s table and best use of baronial colors (Dragonship Haven’s Baronial colors are blue and white).  What an excellent way to help celebrate Dragonship Haven’s Baronial Birthday!  Plan on a 4'-8'section of rectangular table

There will be marshaled activities going on throughout the day, heavy, fencing and our fabulous youth combat group will all be on the list.  His Excellency will be recognizing Baronial Champions in Heavy List and Fencing.

Merchants, Merchants, Merchants, YES, We have merchants!

Site fees include a fabulous day-board!

We are having a small feast prepared by Baron Edward Dragonslayer.  Right now there are 55 seats for feast.  (We already have pre-registrations for feast!) If we have a significant number of folks pre-register for feast, we will raise the number of on-board seats to be available at gate.  We have room for plenty.  It is all about planning!

We hope you can join us for this wonderful day of competition, learning, sharing, friends, and shopping!
