Hosted by Barony of Carolingia - Waltham, MA
Event Last Modified: April 17th, 2007
With the ground beginning to thaw and Spring approaching, the Borough of Fenmere prepares our May Day celebrations once again. Join us on Sunday, April 29, 2007 as we celebrate the coming of Spring. Come frolic with us on the field as we celebrate the fertility of the season with the Green Man. Be awed by the might and power of our fighters and the skill and precision of our fencers. Enjoy the beautiful voices of our Quire and laugh at the hilarity that is i Sebastiani.
Merchants are welcome, but must contact the autocrat at least two weeks before the event. Tables can be provided upon request and must be requested at least one week before the event. There is no day board but dinner will be pot luck in style and everyone is encouraged to bring their favorite dish to share. There will not, however, be access to refrigeration. The site is dry.
If you would like to eat elsewhere, there are several on-campus places to eat including the Stein, which is a proper restaurant and across the hall from the dance room, and Sherman Dining Hall, which is downstairs from the dance room and is a buffet. Average meal costs between 8 and 12 dollars. There are also nearby commercial restaurants.

From the Massachusetts Turnpike (Interstate 90) Westbound: Take exit 15 for I-95/Rt 128 and Route 30. After the toll proceed straight for Route 30. Turn right at end of the ramp, and then right again at first traffic light onto Route 30. Turn left at next traffic light. Brandeis is two miles ahead on the left.
From I-95/Route 128 Southbound: Take exit 24 for Route 30. At end of ramp, proceed through traffic light (across Route 30). Brandeis is two miles ahead on the left.
From I-95/Route 128 Northbound: Take exit 24 for Route 30. Route 30 is one of several options at this exit, so follow signs carefully. Turn left at the top of the ramp onto Route 30. Turn right at the traffic lights, and Brandeis is two miles ahead on the left.
From Route 20 in Watertown: Continue down Route 20 past the large park in Waltham center. Just after the old CVS and the pet store on your right the street will split in three directions. Route 117 will be a slight left and South Street will be a hard left. Make the left on to South Street, you should pass the Walgreens on your right. Continue down South Street, Brandeis is on the right.
Once you have turned onto the Brandeis campus, bear left, towards the Admissions Building. At the first stop sign you reach, take a left into a parking lot. This is T-Lot. However, there may be a parking lot closer to the site, H-lot, which will be the second parking lot you see once you pass T-lot and Spingold Theater. If you park in H-lot, walk a little ways up the hill, cross through the quadrangle and look to your left. You should be able to see Chapel's field from the quadrangle.
However, if H-lot is full, you can turn around and park in T-lot. Once you exit T-Lot, cross the street and walk up and past the big green building (Shapiro Campus Center). Walk a little further and you will see a large field on your left. This is Chapel's Field.
By commuter rail: Commuter train service is available from Boston's North Station or Porter Square Station to the Brandeis/Roberts Station which borders the campus. When facing the road, turn right and walk up the hill. The Brandeis entrance will be on your left. Take the left-hand fork and follow the peripheral road until you see a big green building on your right (Shapiro Campus Center). Take a right an walk up the path (passing the entrance to the campus center on your left) until you see a large field on your left.
Sherman Function Hall is in Hassenfeld Conference Center upstairs from Sherman Dining Hall. If you are walking north (uphill) from T-Lot (towards main campus), walk pass the big green building (Shapiro Campus Center). Hassenfeld Conference Center will be immediately on your left after you pass the Campus Center (you will have passed it walking to Chapel's Field). The function hall is the first room on the left.
