-Bardic Championship Rules:

The competition will be held in two rounds, with the following format:

Round one:  perform the piece you feel expresses "what the essence of the SCA is" to you.

Round two:  perform a piece that tells about a Great Deed.

The themes have been chosen to accommodate genres including song, story, poem, instrumental, and playlets (for a playlet, the entrant must direct, and may also be narrator or a character within the tale).  Please remember that performances should be suitable for all ages.
Performers will have access to the Sanctuary for blocking or to check acoustics until Noon.

Performances should be limited to 5 minutes each (plays may go 10 minutes) per round.  Performers who exceed the time limits are on The Gong Show...  if the panel of judges are enthralled, you'll be allowed to continue...  if their attention wanders, you may get GONGED!

To compete, you must either be a resident of Ostgardr, or willing to give your fealty to the Province on being chosen.
The responsibilities include:
- Attend the majority of Ostgardr events and participate in any Provincial Court held at those events.
- Attend the Baron and Baroness at out of area events, including Pennsic, if possible (Pennsic responsibilities are primarily Opening Ceremonies and Ostgardr Court at the Tuesday night potluck).
- Wear the regalia of your position.
- Organize next year's Baronial Champion competition to choose your successor.

Competitors should only enter if they are prepared to serve as Baronial Bard if selected by their Excellencies, and have no duties or obligations which would prevent them from serving appropriately.

The Champion will be determined by a Panel Of Judges including the Il Khanate and current Champion.
There will also be a Populace Vote.

Performances by those not competing will be allowed, time permitting.
Any wishing feedback on their performances may request such privately.

If possible, please notify the current Champion, Jenna ChildSlayer, pmsattack at hotmail dot com, of your intent to perform in advance, although last-minute entrants will be allowed.
Signups will be near Troll.

A&S Championship Rules:

Beauty and Practicality

Everything made is made for a reason, with craft and purpose going hand in hand.  This year’s challenge is to present something whose purpose is clear, and whose beauty cannot be denied.  The entry may be an item or set of items, and/or a paper.  Entries must have been made in the past 3 years, and may not have been the winning entry in another competition.

To compete, you must either be a resident of Ostgardr, or able to attend to that Province, and, in either case, perform the responsibilities of the Champion.

The responsibilities include:

- Attend the majority of Ostgardr events and participate in any Provincial Court held at those events.

- Attend the Viceregals at out-of-area events, including Pennsic, if possible (Pennsic responsibilities are primarily Opening Ceremonies and Ostgardr Court at the Tuesday night potluck).

- Wear and maintain the regalia of your position.

- Organize next year's Provincial Champion competition to choose your successor.

Competitors should only enter if they are prepared to serve as the Provincial Arts and Sciences Champion, if selected by their Excellencies, and have no duties or obligations which would prevent them from serving appropriately.

The Champion will be determined by a Panel Of Judges including the Il-Khanate and current Champion.

If there are enough entries, there will be a Populace vote, and prize.

As the judges do not know everything, please be on hand to present and answer questions on your entry.

For those sending research papers, please send them in no later than one week before the Competition, to allow the judges time to give them proper attention.

Food and drink entries are permitted.

Judging will follow the East Kingdom Arts and Sciences Rubric.  If possible, please contact the current Champion, Beatrice della Rocca, of your intent to enter, and a booklet will be sent to you reiterating the above, and including the Rubric.  If you have any questions, please contact Beatrice at 228691 at members dot eastkingdom dot org
