Event details

Aidé shomā mobārak, Happy New Year and Happy Nowruz!!  With the arrival of the vernal equinox, the festival of Nowruz has started.  Their Excellencies Jonathan and Teresa and the populace of Settmour Swamp invite the Known World to help celebrate the annual thawing of the mud this year with a Nowruz theme.

Please join us on March 24th at the Ss Nicholas, Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Roseland, NJ, as we gather to enjoy much that our society has to offer.  There will be tournaments of martial skill; the arts and sciences will be celebrated and demonstrated.  After Kingdom and Baronial court we shall feast!

There will be a sumptuous thirteenth-century Syrian feast.

Our site is once again the Greek Orthodox Church, and they have kindly asked that we be respectful of their facility and beliefs.

There will be absolutely no martial activities of any sort inside the building.

We have also been asked not to have any open flames in the building.

The sites main halls have wood “gym” floors; please do not wear footwear that could damage the floor.

Please help us continue to build a good and long lasting relationship with this site by respecting their wishes.

The site is discretely damp.  While alcohol is permitted, please try to use period containers.

The site is handicapped accessible.

**Martial Activity details are being added as they become available.**

Please note that the only space we have for any of the tournaments is on asphalt in a section of the parking lot.  Please plan appropriate footwear.  Unfortunately, due to space considerations at our site, we will not be able to have thrown weapons or archery.

The armored combat tournament will be fought in the traditional Mudthaw double elimination format.  The tournament will begin promptly at 11:30am.  Check in closes at 11:00am.  Inspections close at 11:15am.  If you need an authorization, please get the paperwork from the MoL at check in, and let a marshal know as soon as you can.  Authorizations will not be fought after 11:30am, unless there is time after the tourney has completed.  Please contact Ögurr Aðalbrandarson, who is the Barony's Knight Marshal, at marshal@settmourswamp.eastkingdom.org if you have any questions.

A rapier single elimination round-robin tournament will be held run by Morwill MacShane he can be contacted at blueknightfjh@yahoo.com.  Please remember this will be held outside on the blacktop.

Master Hroudland will be running the youth fighting at Mudthaw this year.  If you have any questions about youth fighting at the event please contact him at youthcombat.west@eastkingdom.org
