PLEASE NOTE different weekend -- Different site.  And well as far as fun - As always a fun filled WEEKEND.
“It’s River Wars; it’s River War.
For fun it’s a wonderful weekend event.
What is filled with family fun for one and all?
Where the sounds of laughter can be found?
To Fight, To Fence, To Shoot and Throw, To Dance, To Ride, To Share, To eat and to camp, a marvelous thing!
Everyone knows it’s River War!
It’s River War; it’s River War.
For fun it’s a wonderful weekend event.
It’s fun for a family, friends, and horses “

Iron Bog's Baroness Creatura Christi of Oaks would like to invite one and all to River War for a weekend full of good times with family and friends.

In her attempts for you to have a grand time She has ordered her Stick Weasel guards to lock away the Event Steward and the wonderful people that have come to aid him in a room with strict orders not to release them till they have a wonderful event laid out for her guests.  Please join the Baroness as she puts their game plan to the test.  Come have some fun and save the staff from the “evils” of what the Guards have in mind if the staff doesn't bring forth fun for all.

A short message from the Stick Weasel guards – “Are you still dreaming of those nights at Pennsic? Did you not get to go to Pennsic? Well here is a prime chance to set up youf tent or even bring out the RV.” **Please not those who wish to hook up an RV with electric:  the site is charging a 25.00 hook up fee.

Activities
Breakfast:  - Those of you who have come out to camp – fear not the morning hassle of making breakfast.  There will be a “get you started on your day” breakfast available both Saturday and Sunday.  Just remember your feast gear.

Now let us take a look around at what there is to do:
A&S ROW:  River Wars will once again feature an artisans' row.  Artisans will be available to demonstrate and teach their art to people who are interested in learning more about these arts or trying something new for the first time.  This space will also provide the artisans an opportunity to gather and learn from each other.
We will also be working to integrate youth activities with the artisan’s row depending on the activity and age of the youth.  If you would like to be included as an artisan or if you have questions, please e-mail Lady Aibhilin inghean Ui Phaidin (Erica Janowitz), Artisans' Row Coordinator/Youth Coordinator:  erislp@gmail.com

A&S ARTISANS’ ROW WELCOMES EKBG:  The East Kingdom Brewers Guild invites you to the many opportunities for brewers at River War this year.  We will be offering a Roundtable for all brewers of the East to come and share the work they are doing and talk shop with other brewers of the kingdom.  Please bring your potables for all to share.  We will also be offering paneling for EKBG members to participate in.  Come out and learn to brew in some classes we will be offering this year as well (TBA).  At River War this year there will be a contest for brewers:  best beer, mead, wine and other and best overall.  Historic documentation is not required but extra points will be offered for research done on potables.  Please label your bottles and bring a list of ingredients so we know what is in your potable.  We look forward to seeing many of our kingdom’s finest brewers at River War this year!

A&S CONTINUES WITH A COMPETITION:  Iron Bog will be holding the A&S Champions Competition.  Anyone may enter the tournament, but only citizens of Iron Bog and the surrounding territories that share borders with Iron Bog may be Champion.  Entries for the A&S Competition should be themed related to your device.  We have a device - display it.  How creative can you get? The entries will be displayed near the stage during the day.  Their Excellencies of Iron Bog, The Royalty and unknown selected individuals will be deciding the winner and champion of Iron Bog.

OTHER A&S FUN:
DANCING:  Start the weekend off with by getting your feet moving to some music and dance the mundane blues away.  Saturday there will be class on various dances all to get you ready for the ball Saturday and Sunday night.  All this fun will be lead by Duchessa Diana Tregirtse and Lord David of Hartshorn-dale.  Questions can be sent to erynutz@alumnae.smith.edu

RIVER WARS FENCING SCHEDULE
SATURDAY:  DAY OF TOURNAMENTS
11:00AM List table Opens
12 Noon Tournaments Begin
Best of the Best- This tournament is open only to OGRs, MODs, former King’s and Queen’s Champions.  This is a bring-your-best single elimination wounds retained format.  Double kills, both are dead and both leave the tourney.  In the event you lose both arms, but kill your opponent, you are both dead and are out of the tourney.  The semi-finals all wounds are healed.  Semi-finals are best 2 out of 3, wounds retained.  Double kills in the semi-finals and finals are refought until there is a clear winner.  The finals are best out of (5), weapons rotation, with no one form twice unless a combatant has used all of their authorizations.

The Up and Comers Tournament-This tournament is open only to OSRs and anyone who does not have a Kingdom polling fencing award, or Society level fencing award.  This is a bring your best, single elimination, wounds retained format.  Double kills, both are dead and both leave the tourney.  In the event you lose both arms, but kill your opponent, you are both dead and are out of the tourney.  The semi-finals all wounds are healed.  Semi-finals are best (2 out of 3), wounds retained.  Double kills in the semi-finals and finals are refought until there is a clear winner.  The finals are best out of (5), weapons rotation with no single form twice unless a combatant has used all of their authorizations.

2:00pm:  The Brass Hat Champions Tournament-The Baronies of Iron Bog, Bhakail, Carillion, Settmour Swamp, An Dubhaigeainn, and the Crown Province of Ostgardr are invited to put forth five fencing champions to fight in both melee and heroic singles for the honor of their barony.  Each baronial team is required to have at least one fencer who lives within their territory.  The other champions on their team may come from any other territory within the East Kingdom.
The melee battles will be a series of (5) on (5) Roman Melees.  The last team standing wins.  The heroic singles will be single elimination, random team draw.  Instead of individual fencer being drawn each round, each barony will be randomly drawn and each team decides which of their champions will fence.  Each team must go through all of the champions before they can fight in a second bout.

2:00pm to 3:30pm:  Single Form Bear Pits – Open to Everyone
There will be seven (7) Bear Pits, wounds retained, focusing on each of the separate forms:  Single Blade, Sword and Rigid Parry, Sword and Dagger, Sword and Soft Parry, Case, Great Sword and Cut and Thrust.  Fencers with the most wins for each pit, wins the day.  Double kills kill both fencers and will not be refought.  Wounds are retained until you are dead.  In the event you lose both arms, but kill your opponent, you get the win, but are dead at the start of the next fight.  This rule affect your point total and is different than the morning tournaments.

SUNDAY:  DAY OF BATTLES
10:00am:  Lists Open – Fencers will be asked to choose a side (Black or White).  We will do our best to even up the sides if needed.
Starting at 11am until we are too tired to fight anymore:  There will be a series of melee battles, including:  Sheep Raids (Resurrection Battle), Battle of the (5) Banners (Resurrection battle), Open Field Battles (Last Team Standing Wins), finishing with a Roman Melee (Every Fencer for Themselves).

HEAVY:  The annual end of the week-beginning of River War torch light tourney Friday night.  Format will depend one turnout.  In years past there was much fun and laughter.  If you have missed previously give it a try this year.

Saturday:
10:30- inspection
11:15- Three man red rover round robin:  Find two friends, circle the other teams and one by one earn points as a team as you raise to the top.  – Teams of three – each team will send one fighter out.  Each bout is worth a point.  Double kills are refought once.  Double kill a second time the bout will be reset to the beginning with both teams at zero points.

12:30 Last man standing honor Tourney- Gather around for a test of tactics and endurance.  Grand honor roman melee.  NO teaming up.  Fight to the last man.  This will be run twice.  The two over all winners will captain the Castle keep melee.

2:00 Castle keep melee- Short & sweet who can take the castle the fastest.  Except the twist is each defender that is not a member of the Chivalry will have 3 resurrection, the Chivalry gets 2, and Combat archers get 1.  The attackers will have 5 resurrection.

3:00 Field melee- Which team will stand victorious field battle fought best of 5.  And yes combat archery.
