|Lakewood Ren-Faire XXXV ||Event date: September 16th, 2016 - September 18th, 2016|
|Hosted by Barony of Carillion - Lakewood, NJ||Event Last Modified: July 2nd, 2015|
|Greetings to the Kingdom! This year is the 35th year that the Lakewood Lion's Club and the Barony of Carillion will be having their annual Lakewood Renaissance Faire. Please come and join us for the celebration! The day is free for SCA, Markland, and Lucern members. All you need is your membership card, a newsletter label, or to answer some easy questions. (See the ***note*** at the end)|
As this is being penned we have planned a fencing contest, a heavy weapons contest, as well as an archery contest. These contests may break into tournaments at a moment's notice. There is a professional jousting team to entertain, as well as jugglers, singers and other sundry entertainments. This is a public demo during the day, so pomp and heraldic displays are lauded.
There is plenty of room to add other items to the list of activities if you wish to run something that is not on the schedule already. Contact the autocrat to see what can be done. Does your heart sing at the thought of hound coursing? We have an area for you to run your pups. Are the youth fighting activities more your style? Bring your equipment and your marshals and we will set up a list area for you. Carillion has no warranted youth marshal. We can not provide one.
Camping will be available on Saturday night for $1.00. The Camping coordinator is Baron Corcran mac Diarmata (MKA: Myq La Sala). You must register with him on site to get your wristband and site rules. Anyone on site after 10PM that does not have a wristband will be required to leave. Anyone who fails to follow the camp rules will be required to leave.
MERCHANTS: You must contact the autocrat before August 15, 2013 in order to vend at the faire. As in the past there is a fee for merchanting at this faire.
***NOTE***: The SCA does not run the entrance gate. Some members of the Lion's club are more adamant about “proof” that you are in the SCA than others. Please, if you do not have a membership card or Pikestaff label available, be prepared to answer questions at the gate such as; ‘Who is the current King & Queen?', ‘Who is the Baron/ess of Carillion?', or ‘Who is the Seneschal of the East Kingdom?'. Being in garb is not always a given indication of participation in the SCA at this demo. Many members of the general public come to this Faire dressed in costumes.
Site Opens: 8 AM Saturday the 20th for general participants
Site Closes: Dusk on Sunday
Site Opens: 2PM on Friday for merchants & staff ONLY. For all others the site opens at 7AM Saturday.
