Event details
The Canton of Ravenhill is pleased to host Unnatural Axes and a Day of Diverse Pleasures.  This is an event with no site fee and donation only to encourage new people to attend.  We will have Gold Key (loaner) clothing for any visitors from the public who would like to play in the middle ages with us!  For any SCA members, please try and clothe new people who come beforehand so we can save the Gold Key for walkups.

Archery will run from 12-5, with possible warmups beforehand

Thrown Weapons Tourney:  our Signature Unnatural Axes tourney will start at 1 pm with instruction and warmups starting earlier ( as soon as range and marshalls are ready).  Weapons will be provided and are Axes, Knives, Spears and Miscellaneous Intriguing Things that will be a surprise!  The winner will be presented with an Authentic Axe of Golden Color and the admiration of the multitudes!

Classes and Activities - These will run roughly from 11 to 4 pm.

Viking Boat:  see a quarter-scale replica Viking Boat and how it works - then and now.  Opportunity to help fix it so it water-worthy again soon!  brought and Taught by Ana Illevna and Anarra.  A great chance to learn caulking skills!

15th Century Box- Chair(about 2 pm) this is a great camping chair to store necessary but non-medieval items.  Based on a chair in the Cloisters.  Taught by Gruffydd Belwyn

Origami (1 pm) make a Crane, Sword and maybe a Dragon!  Taught by Michaela

Embroidery:  (about 1 pm) Drawn Threadwork taught by Gabriella

Weaving on a 2-beam vertical loom:  from 11-3 Taught by Alistrina de Mann

Maybe Mozzarella and Ricotta:  in the Kitchen, an activity loosely guided by Damiana d'Onde, after dayboard is put out

Games:  Various Medieval Board Games, Yugio for Yewts (bring your cards if you have them) and Dodge Rock will be a few of the offerings, hosted by Ian Belwyn. 

We are looking for additional people to run or do Heavy Weapons, Fencing, Dancing, or Play music!

All newcomers will be asked to sign a waiver, and please be reminded that children under 18 must be accompanied by their parent or their legal guardian in order to attend the event.

Directions:  Eastbound from NY state, get off I-84 Exit 8.  At the exit ramp traffic light go straight across (you would see a car dealership in front of you) and bear left around the traffic circle onto Route 6.  Pass one traffic light, a Shell station and an office park and at the next light turn right onto to Payne Road by Chase Bank.  Stay on this road for 1.6 miles (do NOT turn right if you see a right pointing sign that says Shelter Rock Road) Payne Road turns into Shelter Rock, Bethel at this sign, GO STRAIGHT!  On the right is first Meckauer Park, Bennett Park is the next one on the right.
