|Orchard War VI ||Event date: July 25th, 2014 - July 27th, 2014|
|Hosted by Shire of Hadchester - Union, ME||Event Last Modified: June 19th, 2014|
|Once again the summer is high and the orchard is ripening, but a plague of little folk have been sighted among the trees, flitting here and there perhaps attracted by the scent of our fruits. Though so many of our fighters have gone away south to the wars, we know that the best way to fight the little people is with more little people. We beseech the help of all children and their attendant adults to keep our lands safe.|
Bring your broad swords and rapiers, and bring your bows, axes, spears and knives as a show of marshal strength may impress them into submission. Bring your most musical instruments and your voice as rowdy minstrelsy may intrigue them into joining us for merriment. Children especially should come prepared to ring our site with joyous noise. Bring your dancing shoes as a whirling dance may beguile and exhaust them. And if that doesn’t work, we will pit our little folk against them in combat by water in our first Children’s Water War. (In the interest of safety and fairness among our own little folk, water weapons, equipment and ammunition will be provided or created by the children on site. No materials fess. We have all the makings.)
There will be classes and singing and storytelling around our common fire in the evening. This year we are offering a day board on Saturday at mid-day, and picnic style suppers on Friday and Saturday evenings so you may fill your plate between dances or songs as the mood strikes you. Lord Krumr Donnalson will be issuing a Mystery Cooking Challenge to be judged by Lady Freygerthr of Visby and Lord Foner of Maplecroft. Materials will be provided. (But just a hint, you may want to bring a small amount of one or two special ingredients to appeal to the judges palates).
Surely, with so much to entice them, the little folk will end their lurking in our woods and beg to be admitted to our company.
