|"Henceforth, when the ninth dawn has lifted up her kindly day for mortal beings and has renewed the world by her rays, I shall arrange for the Teucrians the first contest, for swift ships; and he who is strong at running with his feet, and he who, daring in his strength, either steps forward excelling at the javelin and light arrows, or has the confidence to join battle with the bloody gauntlet, let all be present and await the rewards of an earned prize." Aeneid, Book V (tr. by Arthur Calvert)|
The Canton of Northpass invites one and all to "The Funeral Games for John Barleycorn", which will be held at Camp Morty in the Sal J. Prezioso Mountain Lakes Camp in North Salem, NY, on the weekend of Sept. 5 – 7. As described above, the activities will include various athletic competitions including a heavy list tournament, archery, and thrown weapons. Sir Edward Zifran of Gendy will be hosting his Unbelted Challenge. There will also be a team relay race, and the annual John Barleycorn Memorial Brewing Competition (rules for both to be announced later).
Camp Morty has several yurts for overnight lodging, as well as space for tents. If you require a yurt, please indicate that with your reservation. If you prefer to be in a yurt with other specific people, indicate that as well. Though we cannot guarantee we will be able to grant your preferences, we will do our best to accommodate you.
Merchants are more then welcome to vend their wares; contact our seneschal Lord Wilhelm of Northpass at email@example.com for more information.
