|Artisans' Challenge and Display ||Event date: March 8th, 2014|
|Hosted by Shire of Hartshorn-dale - Center Square (Blue Bell), PA||Event Last Modified: October 2nd, 2013|
|Once again, the Shire of Hartshorn-dale calls upon all artisans to come to the Artisans’ Challenge, and Display. Several challenges have been issued and more will be coming in, can you meet one (or more?) https://sites.google.com/site/artisanscdw/ |
Bring your latest work and show it off and talk about it with other artisans. Got something cool you’re working on now? Bring it along and show it off as you share your enthusiasm.
Please take note of the unique start time for this event, which has been popular in the past. A light supper board will be put out around 4:30. There is no feast, and those seeking heartier fare may wish to bring food to enjoy (or share). If cooking is your art and you wish to contribute item(s) to the food offered, please contact the head cook in advance to allow for planning.
Issue a challenge. Please contact Elizabet Marshall to issue a challenge. Anyone can issue a challenge, though you must be sufficiently familiar with the challenge topic so as to be able to determine who has met your challenge. Challenges should relate to period arts or sciences, or to SCA Life. Service challenges anyone?
See https://sites.google.com/site/artisanscdw/ for the list of challenges that have been issued. The challengers are responsible for determining which artisans have met their individual challenges. Each challenge group will meet in a designated room (though all attendees are encouraged to visit to see the works that have been wrought). If you have any questions regarding the individual challenges, please contact the challenger.
Artisans are encouraged to register with the coordinator ahead of the event to ensure display/work space. If you require anything special (large display area, electricity, a “messy acceptable” area), you MUST register ahead of time to allow for planning. For those not registering in advance, space for display/work will be allotted on a first come first serve basis. Plan on spending some time with your work (other than when you’re browsing other artisans’ displays), to talk about it.
All attendees are encouraged to bring personal tokens to distribute to those works that speak to you. Some tokens will also be provided at the gate. There will also be a supply of comment cards available, though you are encouraged to discuss your thoughts with the artisans. The Display is not a competition, and it is not a judging situation, it is a time to share and enjoy.
Other Activities: There will be a meeting and paneling of Athena's Thimble. There is space for other guilds to meet as well, please contact Elizabet to arrange a time.
