|Medieval Festival at Fort Tryon ||Event date: September 29th, 2013|
|Hosted by Canton of Whyt Whey - New York, NY||Event Last Modified: August 19th, 2013|
| Once again, the SCA has been asked to organize a demonstration of period arts and sciences, pageantry, and chivalry at the Medieval Festival of New York (aka The Cloisters Festival). Manhattan's Fort Tryon Park is transformed into a medieval market town decorated with bright banners and processional flags. |
The festival is held in the area surrounding the world famous Cloisters, a magnificent museum of medieval art located in Fort Tryon Park near the northern end of Manhattan Island. The park offers vistas of the Hudson River and the picturesque Palisades: a setting reminiscent of Europe eight centuries ago.
This year's festival will be the 29th presented by the Washington Heights & Inwood Development Corporation, a privately and publicly supported not-for-profit corporation. The event is produced in conjunction with the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation.
We are looking for demonstrators for all forms of period Arts and Sciences, but we especially encourage the participation of fighters and fencers. For the third year, the Viceroy and Vicereine of Ostgardr will choose their new Heavy Combat Champion of our fair Crown Province of Ostgardr. This new Champion will then choose The Queen of Love and Beauty.
