Event details
It was during the summer of A.S.  46 that the people of Smoking Rocks began to hear the mutterings of concern regarding the health and well-being of their Dread Baroness Nest verch Tangwistel.  Indeed, after three years of service to the Crown defending the Easternmost sandbar of the kingdom against all manner of scurvy knaves, pirates, and marauders (that is to say, Normans), the enormous weight of duty was beginning to take its toll on the Baroness.  Shortly after repelling an attack from the North which left the armies of Smoking Rocks battered and bloody - yet unbowed - the Baroness began suffering spells of megriemes and phantasms of light that plagued her waking hours.  And the mutters grew into murmurs, and the murmurs grew into whispers, and the whispers grew into a six word phrase that eventually a few of the denizens of the barony were brave enough to ask --- "Don't you think she looks tired?"

Their Royal Majesties, in their infinite concern, agreed to relieve Baroness Nest of her burdensome duties allowing her to return to her pastoral landholdings in Wales, and called back from the field Hlaford Ceawlin Alreding, who had been away on the campaign encouraging the people to rally behind the Saxon.  Lord Ceawlin accepted his call to service and will take office, along with his ladywife Molly Blythe, as the next Baron and Baroness of Smoking Rocks.

Come join the people of Smoking Rocks as they celebrate the Investiture of Lord Ceawlin and Lady Molly on Saturday, the 9th of November, in the Masonic Temple in the port town of New Bedford (the Coronation Site of the late Good King Kenric I).

The day’s activities will include Royal and Baronial courts, dancing with Stonebridge Gambol, music by Fracta Modi, an A & S display, and Saxon Games devised by the wily Baron Cerdic of Colbridge.  There will be a brewing panel hosted by the Smoking Bridge Guild of Libation Brewers; as the site is discreetly damp, however, we ask that participants limit their entries to one bottle of their best brew.  A hearty Saxon feast will be served by Lord Robin Goodfellow, known as Puck.

Merchants are welcome but space is limited so please contact Baron Cerdic if you wish to sell your wares.
