Freimarkt Fair
| Event date: September 21st, 2012 - September 23rd, 2012 | Hosted by Barony of the Bridge - Coventry, RI
| Event Last Modified: August 29th, 2012 | | | | Event details | | The bad news is that Golden Tygre Tavern has been closed due to unsavory influences. The GOOD news is that the good Baron Eloi has approved a Freimarkt instead!!
This means that all merchants are welcome to come share their wares at no cost for space or shares to the Barony. The space is granted on a first come first served basis, however. There is space in the hall and on the closed in porch. Feel free to bring tables, shelters, or blankets but be aware that no stakes may be driven into the main field. They have a sprinkler system that they do not want punctured. We are encouraging any sort of ware or service to be welcomed and shared. Some of the possible wares and services folks have been talking about are local farmers bring fruit and vegetables, bakers making pretzels and sweet treats, tailors and craftsmen making all manner of garb and useful items, herbalists and healers, dancers, musicians, performers, story tellers, fortune tellers and matchmakers. Think of ANYTHING you want to do or make for someone and see what they will do or make for you in return. What do you have to lose?? You need never have sold or traded anything before. Get creative and see what you can think of to add to the fun. The populace here may not be terribly rich with money, but we are hoarders of pretty and interesting little toys, gems and various tiny and unique items. We LOVE to barter. (We are Bridge, we barter?) We so enjoy dazzling each other with the rarity and curiosity of these prizes and hope you will join in the fun with us and bring some along for trade and barter.
We are happy to announce the 2nd Annual Bridge Rapier Tavern Brawl at Freimarkt Fair!
Are you sick of the same old rapier tourneys and melees? Well, the crew of the ship "The Black Dolphin" have just come into port and sank their pay into the local fineries here at the market. They stagger into the local tavern to continue their debauchery, where a fight breaks out! Stagger into the tavern yourself with a single rapier or even just a dagger, and pick up one of the many off-weapons available on the tavern tables, including but not limited to, a wheel of cheese, a baguette of bread, sausage links, a rat, mugs of ale, or even a cat! Everyone is out for themselves, last man standing in the melee, wins! The scenario will be run 3 times, each time the winner will be awarded a FABULOUS PRIZE. There will then be a winners match to determine the overall tavern brawler who will be given an even MORE FABULOUS prize! After the main tourney, the tavern list will be left open for more fun. Rubber band cannon is ALLOWED for this tourney! All participants, marshals, and spectators must be aware of the dangers of projectile weapons and protect their eyes accordingly. Spectators may be given their own "rotten fruits and veggies" to hurl at those in the brawl making such a scene at our peaceful Freimarkt! Obligatory disclaimer: No actual food items or animals are used in this scenario. All weapons meet East Kingdom standards of offensive (dagger), rigid and non-rigid parry. Participants who have actually imbibed in alcohol prior for the event will not be permitted to enter the list, we're playing pretend, here, and are, after all, industry professionals. Authorizations and inspections will take place prior to the event, and there is plenty of space for pick-ups nearby for those boring folk that don't wish to participate in the tavern brawl, but the more people we have in there, the more fun it's going to be! Questions, comments, concerns or assassins may be sent to the Marshal in Charge: Lady Anna Dauzzano da Siracusa kaousuu at gmail dot com 401-808-5453.
We are also planning on heavy list Baronial championship, thrown weapons and possibly archery if we can gather enough enthusiasm for such things. Details will be added as these are decided.
After fighting is done we are proud and pleased to host the Handfasting of Lord Andris Lowenstein & Lady Belina la Cousturiere which will take place in the grove by candlelight at dusk. After the fighting and work of the day, it will be fun to get cleaned and dressed and in a festive mood for what promises to be a beautiful celebration.
In the evening, we have been known to share a game or a drink and a whole lot of fun and antics. (HINT: trading of services or items need not stop when the sun sets!!) There are two big field stone fireplaces in the hall before which many a song have been shared and story told. There is space on the porch for dancing all night. This site is wet as long as no one brings alcohol outside between the hall and the lake. We have many local brewers who enjoy sharing and showing off their handiwork. Come do the same. Site Opens: 7PM Friday Site Closes: 12NOON Sunday
